The thing is I only want to fly! I dont want to do anything in this world but fly. So I was just asking because I will do whatever it take's to be an aviator. So that's why I'm asking what should I major in. You guys answerd my question, so thank's alot to everyone and I will be flying in the future (I will die if I dont fly) so thanks again, mike.
Ill repeat what I put on the other thread that addressed this same thing one week ago. If you are looking to get into a field where a certain degree is required, but that degree doesnt interest you, then that field probably wont either. If you are a poet/lover and you force yourself to do engineering and hate it but you want to go to TPS, dont be surprised when you get to TPS and, although it sounds cool to say you are there, you hate your every day life because *poof* you are doing engineering. There is a REASON certain fields require certain degrees.
I heard it best from COL Forrester, an Army astronaut. You do all these things to achieve your goals (for him, being an astronaut) - you choose your assignments wisely, you go to school and get certain degrees, you publish papers, you volunteer. He then said that you have to enjoy the process, because the process is your life. Lots of people do all those things and still dont make it. So, you have to be happy with your life, doing what you do now, while setting yourself up for your goals in the future. Life is to short to not do something you are passionate about.

Unless you have already heard it, you have to remember, whatever degree you pursue, when it come time to commission as an officer before learning to fly, you will ABOVE ALL be an United States Military Officer, and therefore be expected to fulfill the duties and obligations that are part of the job. Flying is secondary unless:
A.) as bogey spotter said you go AF, in which case have fun with that...
B.) you go the Marine Corps way, in which case you are a MARINE above all other things, and that in and of itself is a calling on the same (or perhaps greater) level of being an aviator.
So if you absolutely POSITIVELY CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT IT need to fly... get your PPL...
Back to the original subject:
I started my freshman year as undeclared/PoliSci, but I quickly found out it was a useless degree, not to mention not as interesting as I'd hoped... I am now a Geology major... If for one reason or another I do not beome an officer and an Aviator, I plan to go to Grad School and continue in the field in some capacity since I am a closet Astronaut wannabe... but that's so far ahead in the future right now I'm just glad I enjoy the work; walkin' around, middle o' nowhere pickin' up rocks, figuring out how they got there... sounds boring I know, but that's what I've come to love... Field Geology ROCKS!!

I'm an aeronautical science major, so anything is better than what I'm doing (in my opinion), but if I had to do it all over again I would go into finance with a focus on investing type stuff (stocks, derivatives, hedge funds, etc)
I would agree, especially if you've gotten a pilot slot. Waste of money IMHO. Sure you may do well in flight school because of your experience, but I know a few prior CFI/ERAU types who went P-3/Helo so it isn't a guarantee, and it's expensive as fvck.
Should have went to public school and studied something else and done the aviation stuff on the side.
Having it part 142 is nice but my hindsight is 20/20

I want to fly in the aircraft. I just love the sight, smell, and feel of airplanes. It was truly love at first sight when I first saw an airplane. I cant help it, I just love airplanes more than the world.

I'm a Forestry/Wildlife Management Major. It's a lot like geology, but on a much shorter time scale. I love it. I wouldn't have done anything else, looking back, even if it was one of the toughest majors at my school. That said, I have always love airplanes. I almost went the aeronautical engineering route, except I didn't relish the math. Looking back on things, the math stuff might very well have been easier (don't know, though, since I didn't take it!). However, my love of airplanes and flight never left me, and the constant gleaning of knowledge on this subject helped me to get some pretty good scores on the ASTB, which helped get me selected for USMC OCS. what it all boils down to is how much you want it. and don't rule out a major in a carreer you might what to pursue when you get out of the service.
Exactly. Flying for the military is in no way a guarantee.

Single best piece of advice in the thread, hands down. Take classes that satisfy general requirements your first semester. Take that time to figure out what major best combines the "I like this major" factor and "there are hot girls in this major" factor and do that. Oh and go for quantity of hot girls; you will like a new one every semester, or weekend as the case may be.
And no, I am not joking. I majored in engineering and not a day goes by that I don't regret it. Have fun in college. They will teach you all the aero and physics you need at API. Lifties make the wing go up.
