I did a search but couldn't find anything on this. My app is going to be put through later this year (after PRK or LASEK, whichever I'm qualified for) and my three choices are SNA, SNFO, and SWO. If I do not get selected for SNA, and that is what I really want to be, do I need do take SNFO or SWO if they select me and try a lat transfer later or just keep reapplying for SNA until I get selected. I'll do whatever it takes to be a Naval Aviator but I was just wondering the best route to take in this scenario.

Thanks.

The search function is your friend. Do not count on the lat transfer thing, as it is very, very rare.

Ehhhh...I'd say cross that bridge when you get to it.

BUT: I do know your chances of transferring to SNA are very slim, especially from SWO, I would think.

And if you get selected for SNFO and SWO but reject them to apply for SNA if you don't get it, then you forfeit your chance to do them later. I was also told that one has to wait 6 mos before applying again to SNA, due to competition.

I guess the moral of the story is, don't put it down on your application if you're not ok with doing that.

You may also want to look up the regulations regarding LASIK for SNAs. It will save you a great deal of heart ache latter on down the road.

Thanks for the tips. Yeah, I did know about having to get PRK or LASEK and not LASIK. I actually had a consultation with the eye doc today and he said I should have no problem being able to have PRK. He understands why it has to be PRK and not LASIK so it looks like I'll be getting it done here in the near future. Regarding my officer app, I guess I'll just have to keep applying until I get accepted for SNA (that is until I turn 27.)
