Dinner dress for an 0-1?

Some of the archival pics I was able to dig up showed NAVCADS wearing them before they were winged. The uniform regs just have them being worn by aviators or people attached to an aviation command. I have seen CPOs without wings (Maintenance types) wearing them as well.

The only two other people I have seen weaaring a full set at Whidbey were a crusty old CMC who did not have wings (Maint type) and an AMDO wearing his dad's. I thought both looked sharp and I had no problem with it, the more the merrier! As long as they are airdales......

Well, I may be wrong then, but I'm at least going to get through API before picking up a set:D

An ABHC RDC at OCS wore AWG an outpost. It looked pretty cool.

Wow, that's a lot of letters.

"Seeing as how the VP is such a VIP, shouldn't we keep the PC on the QT? 'Cause if it leaks to the VC he could end up MIA, and then we'd all be put on KP"

An Aviation Boatswain's Mate - Aircraft Handling Chief Petty Officer Recruiter Division Commander at Officer Candidate School wore Aviation Working Greens...

Boy doesn't that look silly.

I don't mean that I'm going to be wearing them around any time soon, I just figure that given the high wait time to get them coupled with the (slim) possibility that they might be going away, I'd like to own a set while I still can. If it were the kind of thing I could pick up off the rack in the exchange, I'd wait until later, but for now this seems like the best option.

Order them now. It takes 3 months or so to get them.

Are there many opportunities to wear them in the training pipeline? Or will it pretty much be flight suits all the time?

I also would be a little uncomfortable wearing them without wings, but if it'll help save them I'll at least pick up a set a now.

In the pipeline, not too many. Perhaps wingings, and on duty if local honchos allow it. They used to be used vice Khakis. They are LEGAL to wear, but the whole "skyline at own risk" applies. I would talk to an IP and see if you can get wearing them for SNAs blessed.

I'm a student and wear them on duty, but being a winged retread I play by slightly different rules for some things.

If there are any VT/HT head honchos reading this, if you put out "AWGs are OK for SNAs in place of Khakis on Duty in VT/HT-XX" that would solve a lot of the debate.
