Yep, that's it. My first time applying too. They all secretly know how patient of a person I am so they decided to make this the LATEST RESULTS IN HISTORY!!!! Appologize for the yelling. Well, kinda.

Yep they said hey look at the first timers lets make them sweat for 5 months, and everyone else we'll just make them wait longer than expected.

"Anticipated" and "should"... hmmm... I've heard that before. I really hope it is though- my husband gets his orders on Monday and we're interviewing in my office for an assistant (or maybe my replacement) Monday as well--- Also, my first time, so I feel your angst. I thought I was losing patience mid-October. Boy, was I wrong!!

Good luck to your husband. I recieved my orders two weeks ago. I'm finishing up my transfer package most likely this week. I'm just planning as if I were going to transfer and then if accepted I can just have them cancel everything.

So we should be tied for the latest results as of today. Let's see if we beat the record (not that it's a good thing of course).

I was able to get 5 letters of reference from a Captain, LCDR, two LT's and my College Algebra/Trig Professor. I also put in LOA's and other quals I had. It totaled about 26 pages for my enclosure 7 (special qual documents).
Was that overkill?

I was able to get 5 letters of reference from a Captain, LCDR, two LT's and my College Algebra/Trig Professor. I also put in LOA's and other quals I had. It totaled about 26 pages for my enclosure 7 (special qual documents).
Was that overkill?

I wouldn't recommend that many in the enclosure. Consider that each package is probably looked at for less than five minutes by several different people. Use the stuff that really highlights you. Your page 4, should include all qualifications, and any awards that aren't listed should suffice. Any letters such as OOD inport as well would be beneficial, or other key qualifications that include specific letters.

Letters of recommendation from a college professor should be avoided by people already in the military. However, if you have a weak educational past, then it may be beneficial. Otherwise, letters from a Master Chief saying that he would gladly have you as a divo speak just as well as letters from a CO saying he would want you in his ward/ready room.

I don't think its overkill. I had a bunch of stuff missing from my official record so I sent the board copies of my ESWS, EAWS, other awards and some volunteer letters of appreciation. All together I had about the same number of additional documents.
I had three letters of recommendation. The J2 here at NORTHCOM, the Navy element Admiral, ADM Hamby, and Gen Renuart, Commander NORAD/USNORTHCOM. I was just hoping that no LORs from prior command wouldn't hurt me. My old ship had a new CO and I wasn't sure how to track down where my CO went...

I don't think it was overkill, because I feel like you're trying to prove to the board that you're the best candidate out there so I say the more the merrier. I don't remember exactly but I had a lot of enclosure 7 documents as well.

So i figured out why this is taking so long. It only makes sense that because this is the first year i put a package in that it take the longest time in history to get the results.

I was thinking the same thing. I am the CCC at my command. I was at my last command too. I have help with a bunch of Officer Packages (STA-21, LDO, ect.). It only figures I decide to apply and the results take forever.

Included LORs from: Senator, State Represenative, Congressman, 4-Star General, Mayor, community service director (5 years worth), XO, CO.

Included ESWS and PG4.

And finally my 115 credits from college.

I don't understand the point of submitting an LOR from a politician who has probably never met you in person. Unless you have a personal relationship with them, that's a different story. But asking for a LOR from someone you never met is like asking the STA-21 board to write a LOR just based on your application packet.

and you know what, the board can see right through those recomondations. I dont think its how many you get, its more about quality, sincere ones you get.

I agree on the quality of a LOR. I think the most beneficial LOR you could have is of a prior Commanding Officer.

The important thing to look at is that you are basically trying your best to show the board the person you are and the potential you have. Maybe having a senator or other politicians doesn't help you that much, but I know for me I believe it at least showed effort to obtain an LOR from my senator. The effort put into a package, IMO, shows how much dedication an applicant has towards the navy and their desire to lead those as a naval officer.

But regardless of how many LOR's you have, I do not think you would get selected on just them alone, you must have a decent package to begin with.
