I was checking out the NSI website and looking on the Required Paperwork/Items to Bring page and it says -"All medical/dental records and immunization records. Military and Civilian." As a selectee coming straight from the fleet, do I need a civilian medical record? I of course have my military medical record but I'm not sure I'd even know how and/or where to get my civilian one.

Thats my report date too. Mike said get your physical to him ASAP!!!!! As far as your college paper work, we have a little breathing room, he said by february but the sooner you get them in the sooner you get your orders cut, household goods moved.... etc all that fun transfer stuff set in motion by that happy piece of paper
Well I'm scheduled to finish my SNA physical tomorrow morning so that should be headed to Pensacola friday or monday. Just might overnight it personally to be safe. Thanks for the help jetjockey
I saw that too, and I also saw that it says to bring civilian prescriptions. I'm assuming they want you to bring any civilian records/prescriptions you do have, if you have any. It's probably a catch-all for OCs to include officers coming straight into the Navy from civilian life. I'm just bringing my military record because that's all I have.

Should we really check in wearing business casual? I've always checked in to new commands in my dress uniform...
I've heard that we should bring our vehicles if possible and bring a car cover. Good idea?
Is it true that females can't use hairspray or anything on their hair for the first few weeks? My hair will not stay up...
Should we bring uniform items we already have that cross over, like corframs- will we be wearing corframs or leathers?
Any other advice you guys can give would be great!!

I would check in wearing that. I know when I reported they told us to wear our dress uniforms. The night I checked in was the last time I wore my dress whites. The first day you'll step off in PT gear and you'll get your first uniforms in the first or second week. Your enlisted uniform is worthless once you check into this program
Bringing a car is a good idea. You'll probably get weekend liberty after week 2 or 3 depending on how your group is doing / staying out of trouble etc. Car cover? I don't know, never had a car that nice...
Bring EVERYTHING you can that crosses over. I actually went to the thrift store on base before I left for NSI and bought a bunch of $5 Khaki sets, a $10 set of white shoes, and a set of chokers I think I paid $20 for. That helped me hold on to a good chunk of the initial uniform allowance, while others were dropping hundreds on uniform items. Bottom line is that if you need it, you'll have to buy it there, so you might as well bring what you can, as long as it is an officer uniform item.
I don't think hairspray was a big deal there. If the website says don't bring it I wouldn't, but there is a point early on there (after week one) where you are treated pretty much like adults, and after dinner you can go out on base and get items that you need. They also leave you alone early in the morning if you need time to get ready.

No, you should not be disqalified for the program unless your surgery and the recovery time ends up lasting better than a year, as you will need to pass a physical exam (which you can get before or after you are selected). So as long as the PRK is completed successfully and are then fully cleared you should be good to go. I know that there was one individual on here recently that was looking at getting PRK in the near future and his eyes would not be entirely 'fixed' prior to him getting his physical and was trying to find out about a waiver for his eyes as he would not be flying for a while. so, yes you can get the PRK, and no it is not disqualifying unless you dont have enough time to take and pass your comissioning physical.
p.s. you will be applying for the FY11 STA-21 program, the FY-10 results were just released.
Ugh, so my command would not allow me to get my med exam done until results were out, they pretty much said "we already let you go to whidby to do your boards, we cannot afford for you to have another day or two off, so we will wait till the results come out". This in turn has made it so I have to wait till December 9th to do my Physical. Apparently Whidby Island does SNA physicals only twice a month.

Anyways I was wondering, a lot of people who applied for pilot, were called up asking if they would still accept the program if they selected NFO.
Was just wondering, of those people that got calls, if you said yes did they swap you? and if they said no did you get picked up?

Just a heads up - the NAVADMIN says physicals need to be in to Pensacola NLT 1 DEC 09. Hopefully you can get that December 9th physical changed (or you already had it worked out with the STA-21 guys down in Pensacola to submit it after).
Broke down and called Ed this morning (even though I told myself I wouldn't) and he said that physicals need to be in as soon as possible although he understands that they're going to be later than 1 Dec because of how late the NAVADMIN was. Also said that May NSI peeps needed to have their letters in by around mid-March. In saying all this he is working on our letters described in the NAVADMIN but is having a hard time getting them out considering how many phone calls he's getting. Hmmm... I probably added to that...

This question is out there for anyone to answer.... preferably prior Selectees...
In the NAVADMIN it states that we are not to pursue degree plans until we have our "Letter indicating University start date".... Are the "letters" they are refering to our Acceptance letters from the university? or the "SEPCOR" from STA-21? if we know our NSI date- we can pretty much go off of that right? My NSI date is 16 May 2010 - 9 July 2010.... so I can start my degree plan for the same timeframe as my acceptance to the university: FALL 2010, correct?
