FY10 STA-21 Applicants gather round!

Just don't include those classes in your transcripts.

Unless your application says that you are required to divulge your complete academic history, like every school I've ever heard of has. If they find out you've been dishonest, that's fraud. I'm sure the ROTC unit wouldn't take kindly to that either. Bad call.

I got denied from the schools I applied to because I failed out of community college. I went in and talked to the registrar, was completely honest, and said that I had grown up since then. I brought evals and my STA reccomendations. They waived me and I got in without compromising my integrity. Get in there and plead your case, or have someone from your command call on your behalf if that doesn't work.

p.s. I wasn't trying to infer that zeroentropy was suggesting doing something dishonest; he probably didn't know that most schools would treat that as fraud. Sorry for being a dick about it. We all know that the correct thing to do is be honest. :)

I am in the same boat with the rushing around. I agree that it would be dishonest. Try Vincennes if they are still on base. They have an open enrollment distance learning program. That might work to get your grades up fast. Also, don't forget about your SMART. Mine has scores from A school so you can use that to show that you have matured.
Good luck!

Trying to make sure I am doing all these medical examination's right.
I went to the STA-21 Website and it says that aviators are required to submit OPNAV 3710.37A, SF 93, and an EKG printout. I also heard people saying you need your HIV done. My command seems to be clueless on this process, is there anything that tells me exactly what I need to do for medical other than the STA-21 website?

Your medical should have a check off sheet. If not read MedManual ch 15, and try and stay awake. Just looking at the forms itself will help. Any history of pulmonary disease will next chest xray and you need an HIV after 1 Jan 2009 and a current audiology and optometry screening. If your PHA is current you shouldn't need a whole lot other than a SMO signature.

SUNY Maritime has guaranteed admission also, and it is not The Citadel. But Charleston is one of the greatest cities in America, so it has that going for it.

AMEN! :)

We just moved from there (stupid Homeport Shift) and it is the best place ever. We would go back and to the Citadel, but our house down there is rented out and we bought up here in VA.

My husband was accepted to the STA-21 program, going to school in Feb. He has done the physical but is starting the application process. We were told it would take 6 weeks from the time all transcripts are received to get a response at our top choice. Is there any way to get a faster response? Or has anyone been told when the acceptance letters are due? We haven't received anything in the mail from STA-21 yet. Thanks in advance and congratulations to everyone!

Can someone please help me here.....
Are there colleges in San Diego that will help me out... maybe ignore the grades from 2001? Something?

Please ANY help would be much appreciated.

You can try CSU San Marcos. It's North County however they're quite liberal with acceptances. We have one OC up there and an abundance of Marines as well. Here's the POC:

Has any prior selectee heard of anyoen not getting their choice of college? I have only applied to ERAU and that is really the only school I plan on attending. I have already sent in all my documents with acceptance letter and degree plan from ERAU and am wondering if I should apply elsewhere as a back-up.

I have been selected as an alternate and am running full speed with college applications and my medical appointments. I should have started my application process earlier but I was told not to by my COC, either way it is getting done now.

BUT here is my real problem... I am now looking at the minimum requirements for the courses of study at SDSU and they are all above 2.0... which shouldn't be a problem normally but my community college grades, straight out of high school, are horrible (.983 @ 16 credit hrs). I did take 2 Central Texas classes and made an A and a B (3.5 GPA) which helps but if I’m right I’m still only at 1.44. I am applying for SDSU and UCSD but I’m almost sure I will have some serious issues.... what do I do next? I'm thinking I really need to take 3 classes before next year to pull up the GPA.... I don't know if I’m doing my math right but it looks like I need 3 A's to pull it up past a 2.0! Are there colleges in San Diego that will help me out... maybe ignore the grades from 2001? Something?

I knew that my past grades would follow me but NOT prevent me from attending college! I feel like a dirt bag for not realizing this earlier.

Please ANY help would be much appreciated.

As long as you passed and they meet the new universities transfer minimum you will be fine. Your GPA doesn't transfer with you. You start back at 0.00

No, there is no reason I can see after being at a unit for a while that they would have to restrict numbers anywhere. I have also never heard of them doing that. That being said, in my opinion, applying at a backup is a good idea because you never know.

If you go to your local aviation med and request an SNA physical it satisfies most of that except for the questionaire and the anthro measurements, which you can get the paperwork for off the STA-21 site. an aero med corpman will be your new best friend in this endevour

"ELT stands for "Engineering Lab Technician". These guys (and gals) are responsible for the chemical and radiological aspects of nuclear power operation. All ELTs are selected from a pool of MM's (Machinist's Mates) and are sent to further schooling. Because ELTs are derived from machinst's mates, they do have mechanical skills in addition to their Chem/RadCon skills."
