Wow what a bunch of retards. LOL.

"Guns that can take high-capacity magazines are a threat to public safety," said Dennis Henigan of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. "Even though they are old, these guns could deliver a great amount of firepower. So I think the Obama administration's concerns are well-taken."

So Garands have hi cap mags. 8 rds. Unbelievable. Where do these morons get their facts?

I think he was talking more about the carbine. I had a M1 carbine with a 30 round clip made in February of 1945 by the Inland Manufacturing Division of General Motors. I sold it 12 years ago to help pay for my wedding. Now I'm kicking myself because not only do I not have the carbine but now I'm divorced.

I loved that rifle. I bought it at a pawn shop for $150 in 1990. They didn't know what they had.

Still the .30 round isn't that powerful and I'm betting getting a carbine is going to be harder than picking up a cheap ar-15. This is just dumb dumb dumb. I don't understand any of the logic of gun control people. None of it makes sense to me. But I guess I'm a bit biased...

Gun control is never about facts or truth, it's about emotion. Politicians are good at playing that game.

What's that cha ching sound I hear? Oh yea it's the sound of my Garands increasing in value.

My emotions are telling me to get another order off to the CMP before they run out. Fact is I have plenty in my safe.

That's just stupid.

We can import 100,000 AK's a month, but getting some American made battle rifles back from an ally is going to be a threat to security. Right.

I wonder how many 30-06 rounds were fired in drive by shootings last year. My guess would be ZERO.

Yup. I don't know what's happened since but a couple of years ago someone did the research and was only able to find a single example of a Garand being used in a crime. IIRC it wasn't gang related but someone ended up dead.

Garands aren't now and never have been a problem but that won't stop those idiots.

Logic and rational thought doesn't seem to be the strong suit with these people. God forbid someone legally own a weapon in this country that was made 60+ years ago, but AK's and AR-15's are fine.

No, they're bad too, but not as convenient.

While the following is not the point of this disgraceful 'administration's' back-track on this issue ... my experience w/ Korean War imports is: they are CRAP

You can do a LOT better elsewhere ...

But: they are good for re-worked 'shooters' and of course ... parts ... parts ... parts ... and there's just no getting around that little qualification. But if you really want to get right down to it; the parts are already here in one way, shape, or form. You just have to know where to look.

Bottom line: we've been down this road before -- think 1994. To borrow a phrase from the NRA: Trigger the Vote ...

Hmmm, this totally defies the normal convention of:

Brown Rifle = "Hunting" Rifle that is ok
Black Rifle = "Assault" Rifle that is capable of slaughtering the entire population of a small town.

No, it doesn't.

Garand/M-1 Carbine = Rifle that won WWII, enabling this country to still exist and our current president to be, well, President, THERFORE must be capable of great things/laying waste to a small town, and therefore must be outlawed.

I'm glad I have two.

This is stupid. OC's in Newport could have drilled with M1s for years to come...
