How's it going guys, I just took my second ASTB test today...Passed version 5 with 8,8,8,62! The first test that I took was version 4 and I got a 5,5,5,54. Since I needed at least a 6 for the PFAR I studied the FAA Handbook of Aeronautical Terms and Knowledge. This was a great study tool for all things in aviation. To increase the other scores for the other two sections I also studied the Marine Corps Gouge provided on the carolina marine corps officer website. The mechanical comprehension section and the math section definitely helped with the topics I hadn't seen in a while. Here are some of the websites that I used:
Federal Aviation Administration (Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge)
http://www.faa.gov/library/manuals/aviation/pilot_handbook/
Carolina Marine Corps Officer Website
http://www.carolinamarineofficer.com/
Carolina Marine Corps Officer Website (ASTB Prep)
http://www.carolinamarineofficer.com/Astbasvab.html
I also used the Barron's ASTB study guide. In this book I studied the Aviation and Nautical Terms and Knowledge section as well as the Spacial Apperception section. After I studied all the materials, I used the two practice tests to get better with the timing. If anyone has any specific questions, I'd be more than happy to help answer what I can. Either post here and I'll get to it when I can, or email me at brianandrewnagy@yahoo.com.
