Contingent plan for telework, so largely just OWA. Also, DAU without the NMCI sped handicaps (I don't need a CAC for DAU though).
Have you tried other browsers yet? You could also try 'Boot Camp'.

Huh? I think you're confused. I haven't tried anything hence why I'm trying to get set up. And I have no desire to fiddle with boot camp, that level of trouble shooting isn't my cup of tea. For it comes to that I'll just bring my laptop home and VPN.Have you tried other browsers yet? You could also try 'Boot Camp'.

It's been a while, eh?So whats the deal with needing a smart card reader on your personal laptop? Are smart cards required to access the internet from squadron spaces?
1. Do squadrons issue officers/pilots a Navy/DoD laptop? (similar to what would be done in a standard US company)
2. Is there Internet/wi-fi in squadron spaces with direct access to the cloud/public internet?
Are you permitted official/work email access from your personal smartphone?
Can't you access OWA with an iPhone/iPad with a cac reader? No, you have to use a Navy procured (and thus issued) smart phone. Everyone is moving over to iPhones now (away from the ubiquitous BlackBerry). Why can't I use my personal iPhone to access the same Exchange server? Because the world would blow up, obviously.

I agree that there'd be no reason for a Fleet JO to need something like that. I also agree that a setup like that could be invaluable for DHs and above.I remember a post flag aid O-4 at my squadron that dropped the $125 for the reader and software for is iphone. For him it was a lifesaver. Full access/use of most CAC enabled sites.
He said it wouldn't be worth it to the average JO to drop the coin.
