Yeah you definitely have to be fine with rotary if you're thinking about military aviation. beats the C172 for 1500 hours though

Statistically speaking, there's a decent chance you could end up in South Whiting. Like @Low_GPA_High_AOA said, it's pretty much luck of the draw. That being said, it's much better to be flying a helicopter than not flying

And it’s always the luck of the draw anyways… could always get rotary drafted the week you graduate even if you got top scores.

The week I selected, everyone in my squadron got their top choice. I've also seen weeks where literally everyone got rotary bc it's what was needed that week

Everything I would do in pilot training would be to compete for a fighter spot, growler in particular. Top of class gets a wishlist don’t they? My friends in naval aviation were jets or “big wing.” One OCS and one ROTC

It should be noted that NSS isn’t necessarily a measure of how good a pilot is, it’s just how good they are compared to their squadron

Once I learned how NSS is calculated, I learned to just do my best and see how the grade sheets fell into place

Everybody gets a wishlist, what you end up in is dependent on your grades and needs of the navy

I will always advocate for big wing

We were definitely very lucky not many people selected that week and that the slots were available

The start of the 2027 year I know was when this June board just happened. I just got a call and was informed that they are closing pilot boardsz

It started before this board, there were people being put in FY27 from the last board.

Until it is reflected in the board schedule it is just a rumor, there have been many times when recruiting districts have for whatever reason self imposed limits.

It also could be your recruiter isn't happy with you declining SNFO and is just trying to discourage you from applying SNA, I hate to say it but sometimes that happens.
