I’m with you on this one. The thing my recruiter stressed to me was the examination of the “whole person” who submitted the application.I really feel like Flight hours and ratings matter more than others think. My scores ESPECIALLY OAR were at most "Okay-Good".
OAR doesn't matter for really any designator unless it requires a waiver, and 7's have historically been a 50/50 shot, when the final number come out it will really tell the tale, often recruiters get nervous about submitting people for many reasons or listen to rumors, sometimes that results in fewer people at board which is great who's recruiters just do their job correctly.I really feel like Flight hours and ratings matter more than others think. Whatever happened for whatever reason I’m just happy how it turned out for me. I hope most of the folks here get a good call soon!OAR doesn't matter for really any designator unless it requires a waiver, and 7's have historically been a 50/50 shot, when the final number come out it will really tell the tale, often recruiters get nervous about submitting people for many reasons or listen to rumors, sometimes that results in fewer people at board which is great who's recruiters just do their job correctly.
I had a 57 7/8/8 with SNA as first and NFO second and got picked up for NFO with no Flight experience. Just someone who works in finance. I'm thinking the flight matter some bit. Was wishing for pilot but the NFO got me so exited either way. Good luck to the rest that haven't heard yet!Going to be lurking on here for a bit, if anyone has questions or anything feel free to message me. I watched this sub for months without saying anything so I would love to be of help to others. My scores were 42 5/7/6, Aeronautics/Pro Flight 3.2 GPA, Flight Instructor, and Commercial Pilot Cert.
Whole person concept is what they teach, but what happens in the real world is a different story, now Supply really does look at that, but more so after they see the really good GPA, same with IWC and CEC. They will look for the higher GPA's then start digging, Aviation goes for the higher PFAR and FOFAR scores and that is data compiled over at least 15 years now.I’m with you on this one. While it’s been hashed out on here plenty that the ASTB is important, and to many is considered the most significant predictor of performance in flight school, I would assume that having a CFI and commercial cert removes doubts there.
Given your certs, I’m curious to know how your API / Primary goes, and what the lessons will be like for you, versus an applicant with single digits of flight hours or less.
Congratulations to you
Those who put down SNA and SNFO on the same application almost always are picked for SNFO, offhand I can't think of a person who put both down and was picked for SNA, that doesn't mean they are out there but too many have done what you did and were disappointed thinking they had a great shot at SNA, many did in fact have very good scores and flight experience.I had a 57 7/8/8 with SNA as first and NFO second and got picked up for NFO with no Flight experience. I agree with you on that. From what I have heard, prior flight experience only becomes a problem when civilian flying habits need to be forgotten and military habits need to be picked up, like communication. I think that the actual experience on being in coordinated and controlled flight has to help you later on.I really feel like Flight hours and ratings matter more than others think. Thanks, I appreciate that, and congratulations to you!!I sincerely hope for you! Best of luck!
