And if you stay behind and don't go to church, don't think you're going to be walking around Nimitz Hall socializing and joking and laughing either. You can talk and sundays are a bit more lax, but remember what I said....

Your DI or any OTHER DI can show up at any time. Other DIs can and will beat your class too and then will tell your DI about it.

But as others have also echoed, either go or don't. No big deal either way....but we wouldn't tell you to go if it really wasn't a break from the crazy.

Well folks, I just booked up for the Newport Chalet for the night of the 5th and my orders should be coming "any day now" via FED-EX. Let me know if any of you all end up there.

Coffee withdrawal will be among the least of your problems in OCS. Sleep deprivation, maybe...;)
Also, I am a non-prior, but I have enlisted friends that say the total opposite about church. "Don't be THAT girl that goes to church; nobody does that." Etc... But you guys are URGING us to go to church during OCS?

I think your 'E' friends are misinformed, it's been posted earlier that most attend...not necessarily to take part in the religious services, but to enjoy a welcome, relaxing break from the constant high-pressure of "OCS Ops Normal".:eek: You'll be glad you did!

I've never heard of a girl referred to as 'sissy'. I always thought it was a guy thing ) but then, I had a very sheltered upbringing).;)

I know it sounds stupid, but I don't want to set myself up to be "targeted" for any reason. :(

If most classmates are attending the church services for whatever reason, your opting out may just make you a "target", in the eyes of your antagonizers, which as you stated, should be avoided.:(

^This. Go with your classmates, even if you're not religious. I don't know how it is in Newport, but in Pensacola the entire class went to the community center near the chapel on Sunday mornings and sat around, relaxed, ate donuts, called our families, and went to our respective services if we so desired. I liked having a chance to sit and reflect for a little bit, which is something you don't generally get to do during OCS.

Also, odd as it may seem, you won't miss the coffee. You won't have time to think about it.

I made reservations at Navy Gateway, I think my processor said he would mail me my orders the week before.
 
I'm in class 07-13F. If you guys have any specific questions PM me. We had a pretty tough schedule; crammed 5 weeks worth of evolutions into 3 (due to the holiday stand down). So, we have experienced a lot already. Don't be shy... ask away!
 
What Jones means is, 08-13 is going to take all the heat from evolution changes and shortened schedule that 07-13 had, so 08 better have their head in the game. ;)

My wife and I are staying at the Newport Harbor Hotel and Marina. Think it was about $120 for the night.

I got this room like 2 weeks ago for $71. I don't know if they still have rooms but its worth a check if anyone still doesn't have one. It's only 5 min from the front gate too.

I think everyone should know their designator going into this. Is their such a thing as an undesignated OC?

I rather doubt it, but then again, I don't know for sure. I also selected pilot. The waiting is the worst of it. I just want to get going.
