What does the middle number represent?
Welcome to the site. Take a look at the sticky thread at the top of the ASTB forum. It covers it all.

What does the middle number represent?
Quick question, will there be any type of formula sheet given during the math section? Call me too dependent on the calculator thanks to Calc 3 in college, but I'm feeling slightly retarded when it comes down to the simple stuff. Any suggestions on test taking if this isn't the case? thanks guys!
I really hope this isn't elsewhere. I promise I used the search function.
http://www.airwarriors.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=147805I posted these questions on "the new astb overview" thread about 10 mins ago after reading all 9 pages and then found this one :icon_tong...
I've downloaded atrickpay's study guide and was wondering how useful it actually is. My hat's off to him regardless it's very thorough and well organized. Here is the link for anyone interested. It is the 9th post down. http://www.airwarriors.com/forum/sho...al+study+guide
Also, I'm worried about my GPA I just graduated with a 2.5 in a non-technical degree. Obviously I have to destroy the OAR, AQR and the PFAR for a chance at pilot. Does anyone know the scores I need currently to have a really good shot? I know they change often. Sorry if they are already posted.
Thanks to everyone for all the great gouge!!
looks solid, you seem competitive. Good luck in your Application.Hi guys. I thought it would be prudent to make a dry run and see if my background seems favorable for Navy OCS. Thanks for your time!
Age: 22
Education
· Business Management/Marketing major
· 3.79 GPA, University of Florida (WCBA)
· Active member of DEI and Golden Key Academic Honor Societies
o Running for a leadership position running community service projects
· ASTB: 6/8/6 44 (two attempts remaining)
Other
· Solid LORs: Former CAG CVW-14, Former Commodore/Atlantic Fleet LSO, AF Col who sat on the AIB, Calculus prof., Navy AMDO Capt., AF Maj./Statistics teacher, AF Capt. who currently flys the Collings Foundation B-25
· 2 years AF ROTC (dropped due to issues transferring from Community College due to budget cuts. Initially didn?t get accepted to UF, I petitioned the school and got in after I was dropped from the program, yes things were that bad)
· Licensed Private Pilot: 87 hours
· Substantial volunteer time, a lot of which was for retired veterans or school related.
· Excellent physical shape, (great BP, vision, no asthma, etc.)
Caveat, I am not the best standardized test taker. I worked very hard for my score and will continue to do what I need to earn a place at OCS. While my scores are middle of the road, I'm not sure I desire to try again if I can improve myself in other areas. Situation occurred where my brother made mult. attempts and scored lower, but actually ended up earning a NFO spot and is now doing well in Primary. Anyways I just wanted to see if you all could think of others things I could add/point out to bolster my package. Thanks for your time! - Mark
My OR just got my transcripts. I graduated with a 2.487, Just under what I thought. He told me that I have almost no chance at making pilot without a 2.5. this sucks. I've got a solid background: Varstiy Lacrosse, track, and cross country, I've been a lifeguard and a swim instructor. I was head coach of a woman's lacrosse club team in college. I've got some leadership experience(JROTC and 1 year AFROTC)and I'm in extremely good shape. I've ran dozens of triathlons and local road races. Plus, I bartended my way through college with the same job the entire time. I'm also getting some great LORs. If I do well on the ASTB does anyone out there think I stand a chance? My OR doesn't seem to think so:icon_rage. I guess I had to many extracurricular activities in college.
Post Script- if pilot doesn't pan out what do y'all think about SWO to get my wartime pin then try again for pilot?
blarged has the best long term plan for you. In the mean time, rock the astb and apply anyway. Chances may be slim unless you ace the test, but it sounds like the rest of your app is strong. It is worth a try. Depends on your major and what classes you didn't do so well in. As far as SWO, that is nearly as hard to get as aviation these days. I also would not do it if the plan is just to redesignate later. You had better want SWO if you take it because it is a tough job. Three times the work as aviation and none of the glamor and little public recognition. How old are you?My OR just got my transcripts. I graduated with a 2.487, Just under what I thought.
