OCS 11AUG25 IWC BOARD // Nerd Thunderdome 2025

Gandalf_Actual

OCS Applicant
Big Navy. My family is all Navy in one way or another (Maternal Grandfather joined before being kicked out for lack of good teeth then went Army Air Corps then USAF, Paternal Grandfather did 20+ years CTI, Father did 23 years GM, Uncle and Cousin both USMC) then I married Navy.

Now that's an awesome legacy to follow! Welcome to the waiting room (seats aren't the most comfortable, but at least there's no elevator music) - and best of luck to ya!

Im super stoked for you man, I had an IP officer make it with a 12 on the OAR with a waiver. Anything is possible man good luck to you. I would also recommend applying for MWCO later this year as that correlates with me and your Bachelor’s degree
12 OAR is nuts, must’ve had a degree from Bama

(I’m getting ready for college football season, please pardon the trash talk)

Thank you! I looked at MCWO, I am not totally against it, but IP alignst most with what I find interst in as far as areas of knowledge/passion for work, where I have the most work experence, and my husband is an IT with 7.25 years to retirement so it also gives us the best chance of co-lo without as much of a fight for it, we have accepted there is 0 guarantee but currently being stationed in Norfolk gives us some optimism.

Thank you! I will be: 1 the first female to serve in my family and 2 the first officer when I get selected. If not this go round, I will keep doing what I can to bolster this package and then keep resubmitting!

My husband is also active duty! Hopefully we both get picked up and go to OCS together, would be nice to have someone else in the same boat!!

How’s Norfolk, I’ve been stationed in Italy my last and only 2 Commands I would like to be stationed in Virginia Beach

I have a question for anyone that knows.

I have been selected, for Intel (1830) I am doing my Pre-Nomination interview soon and my command already let PERS know that I am good to go.

I can currently stationed overseas and would like to know how they cut orders. Is it that I would tdy to OCS in conjusction with PCS orders to NIOBC? Which means I would move my family before OCS. Or would I tdy to OCS and return to my Command overseas to PCS before NIOBIC?

If anyone’s knows the process or the detailor that would be great. My XO is prior and he is in Intel and said that he wouldn’t know as he was tdy to OCS and classed up immediately to NIOBC with no Family because he was single.

I kinda worried as that would leave my wife and child alone for a 13 weeks of OCS, I mean except for 2 weeks of winter block leave that I can take but my family would be overseas without me.

If anyone could help with some answers that would be appreciated.

Ehhhhh Norfolk.... This is our second time PCSing here... We spent 5.5 years here the first time went back to MD and then back here. It is not terrible, but I would like to see something other than the east coast at some point int time. I will admit while people complain about traffic I will take this traffic over Baltimore/Annapolis/DC traffic any day and I grew up with the DMV traffic!

Can't give you a solid answer here (My husband and I also have so many questions), however per myNavyHR INTEL OCM:
For specific process questions about OCS (waivers, board timing/results, orders, etc.), please see the NPC Commissioning Programs site or contact Navy Recruiting Command at ocsquestions@navy.mil
