Not for nothing, but I’d hazard to guess the answer to your question might be like using the average years between Chicago Cubs’ World Series wins to game out when they’ll win it all again… 😂

Wait what other things should our recruiters covered? Because mine has told me nothing! My entire process has been:
  1. me asking questions via email.
  2. Waiting 3 business days with no answer
  3. sending a text, waiting 2 more business days
  4. Finally Calling with no answer 3 times over 3 hours and then missing her return call because I had to go back to my desk and can’t have my phone (which is why I started the relationship telling her email is the best and most preferred method of communication)
whilst simultaneously using the following to try and answer my questions
  1. google
  2. myNavyHR
  3. A friend who is an NCC
  4. LDOs at work and other officers who commissioned via OCS 5+ years ago who I work with
  5. My friends husband who just came off recruiting duty at the office my recruiter is out of
All of which either answered my questions or left me with more. I have more questions that I have put off because the last time I asked a quest it was after someone here mentioned their OR told them how many total INTEL packages there were. I asked mine if she knew how many IP total and for a general timeline based on her experience since I’ve seen 2-8 weeks here and her response was “I have no insight but you will know as soon as I do”

I think many of us here likely share some roughly similar experience. All we can do is just submit the best package we have, follow up with the OR, and hope for the best.

My Navy OR is a nice guy, but yeah I had some fair share of cases when I had to gently challenge him. But over all, I got prompt responses for stuff that required my immediate follow-up and confirmation on his side. But that’s all it. Once my package was submitted, I got very similar answers to yours.


I left a similar comment on another thread and this is a very personal opinion. The only officer recruiters who seemed genuinely compassionate were the Marine Corps OSOs. Before I was DQed for good, the dude was doing everything he could to work with me until all options were exhausted. It sucked because I had a high PFT score and showed a lot of initiative. Hell, my wife and mother-in-law thought I was possessed by a demon when I was getting after it. But at least I have no regrets as I know I did my best and someone was helping me.

My worst experience was with an Army recruiter.😂

My recruiter did not explain the process to me for after the packet is sent in.
So as I understand it the board is meeting now. What is this prorec/finsel/etc?
Would appreciate any insight and have been mostly in the dark like the other guy above mentioned.

Oh that’s what I did but it’s disappointing and well honestly makes me wonder what is their job if this is the standard? And is there a way to compile the answers or resources with the answers to help street applicants have a better time getting things done/answered.

I kept looking at it as a way to prepare for being in the navy and a leader, how do I handle shitty situations with little guidance and take care of the things I need to in order to get the outcomes needed.
