I got a 48 on my OAR, and that is the only thing that scares me. It is not bad, in fact it is average, but I have a feeling the navy wants above average scores. I got an 8 on my PFAR, and I don't want to risk dropping that score. I will probably just see what happens during the april board.

Also, I heard rumor that the board doesn't even read your motivational statement unless there is a tie between 2 people and they need to pick one of them.

Your GPA and ASTB (minus OAR) are solid, I wouldn't risk the 8 either.

Honestly from some guy on here lol. Take it with a grain of salt. I will probably ask my recruiter if that's true or not.

The motivational statement rumor is in fact true. Unless you had some sort of non-age waiver (drug, legal, etc.) the board doesn't have enough time to review the motivational statement or DD-370 letters of recommendation.

I did get a 48. I meant the section excluding the OAR, not "your OAR sucks" lol, sorry if it sounded that way.

Nah its cool man lol. We can both cry about our OARs together.

Also, regarding the DD 370s, I have one that says "Average" for maturity and Initiative. Everything else on that DD 370 and the other two is marked as outstanding. I hope that doesn't hinder my application.

Nope! I just had to fill out a course completion sheet with my academic adviser to prove that you will graduate on time. Talk about that with your officer recruiter.

How would you recommend I go about convincing my OR to let me apply without retaking?
My thought process is, "Applicants with lowers scores and GPAs are getting PROREC-Y. If not selected, retake and reapply."
I understand it's rare to receive a lower score on the retest, but again, I'd rather not risk it if I don't have to. I'm definitely going to discuss everything with my OR; I'm just trying to soundboard right now. I appreciate the reply!

Have you seen my stats? 38 4/7/4 with a gpa 3.7...I was tabled twice now. Why are they wasting their time? I don't know?? I've seen people on here with stats way worse than some that were selected , like Welshman who had amazing scores, was tabled?? how the heck does that make sense?? cookie_monster and you should just stand by to stand by. Your scores are good. If all they care about is the GPA and PFAR...I think you're golden. Unfortunately, my stats prove otherwise. Good luck and stay salty.

To piggyback @NavyOffRec roughly 8-12 Pilot / NFO applicants (each) were in fact tabbed for the April board.

OR believes that I should just continue to wait but seems as flabbergasted as me. Age critical. Currently serving in the Air Force 9 years. I know for a fact that I will kill the OAR/ASTB-E. When I first took the test the computer froze and only allowed me to accomplish 9 questions, yes, 9 questions in the first subtest then flickered and sent me to the next subtest. Thoughts? opinions? sarcasms?

While I'm pretty sure you should have had more questions on the first subtest, keep in mind that it's adaptive. Not everyone gets the same amount of questions. The questions it feeds you are dependent on which ones you get right and will stop once it determines your skill level.

I've taken the GRE before in which is generated as well. Test cannot gauge your aptitude in under 9 questions....if so, dang I'm really dumb....it's not like I'm a rocket scientist or anything.

Also submitting for the April Boards.@AJ18 If you did well on the GRE you should do fine on the OAR and ASTB-E again.In my opinion it shouldn't be to hard to increase all four of your scores. But It does depend on how hard you thought the PBM was. Anybody have a link to the February board percentages? Haven't been able to find them.

I've seen folks who've had to reset the computer several times but still do really well on the OAR and ASTB portions, including one 20-year old kid who got a 65/8/8/8.

Your OAR is low (min score is 35) as is your AQR, which is at the bare minimum. The boards don't really care so much about your GPA. If it was such a big issue you probably wouldn't deferred twice.

To add to what RUFIO said, I have seen the ASTB computer freeze and people still do just fine, if you answered those 9 questions and you would get one right, then one wrong, it would believe you had reached the knowledge ceiling.

I guess I have been asking the wrong question the whole time. New question...what's the best way to insert a horseshoe? Luck just doesn't seem to be on my side. So hopefully I can pull the package and re-take the test? Being tabled twice leads me to believe otherwise? this is were the confusion sits. Thank you for your time.

Good luck having your OR pull your application. Doing so will have him lose the submission credit. Even if he does do so, he risks you getting a lower ASTB score and not even being eligible to resubmit.
