13JAN25 SWO Board

parin365

SWO Applicant
The dates are only placeholders, they are set so far in advance that it is not uncommon for boards to not actually start on the date scheduled. It also really doesn't matter which starts first as each board is independent of the other and they will not know if a person has been selected for any other boards, just if they have applied to other boards.
Understood, so selection for OCS mainly relies on the fact that an applicant is competing for a designator, not an OCS slot alone?

Yes. Once you are PROREC’d CNRC will place you and the other PROREC kids into OCS classes based on preferences or other factors (like age).

Otherwise it’s just luck if you’re in a sooner or later OCS class if you have no restrictions and/or available to ship now.

If you get selected for a “sooner” OCS date, are you able to push it or are you stuck with what you get? Thank you, I understand this has probably been asked numerous times.

This is where the box "Date available for OCS" needs to be filled out as accurate as possible. There are times when life happens and a date needs to be adjusted but this is for you to fill out, not your recruiter.

Your OCS ship date is based on your availability that you listed on your application. That part is arguably the most important part of the APSR/application.

Hypothetically, if your OCS availability date is March, CNRC might ask if you can ship sooner but you are not obliged to say yes.

I don’t remember a date available for OCS box… I just went back over my application and didn’t see that. Is that because I’m Enlisted?

Just out of curiosity, what commissioning source has recently become the most popular producer of SWOs? The reason I ask is because I want to know if a majority of spots for this designator have already been taken by USNA/NROTC, leaving very limited space for OCS applicants.

The USN doesn't operate that way, when it comes to designators that can commission from all three sources the split is pretty equal between the 3.
