Good AfternoonEveryone, I am currently serving in the Navy Reserve and in the process of applying for Active Duty through the Officer Candidate School (OCS) program for a Student Naval Aviator commission. I am 30 years old and in my final semester completing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Drone Engineering. At this stage, I have completed my medical evaluation and ASTB, and I am in the process of conducting my three officer interviews and finalizing my application package. However, I am experiencing some confusion regarding the next steps for routing my DD-368 (Request for Conditional Release). My Career Counselor advised me to coordinate with an Active Duty Navy Officer Recruiter to obtain the DD-368, as it must be routed through my Chain of Command. When I reached out to the Officer Recruiters, they informed me that they are unable to assist Reserve personnel and that they cannot provide or process the DD-368. I relayed my Career Counselor’s guidance to them, but they reiterated that they are not authorized to handle Reserve applications. I am respectfully seeking clarification and guidance on the correct procedure for obtaining and routing a DD-368 and ensuring my OCS application can move forward properly. Any assistance or direction anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.
