That’s all correct but when you leave there is no NSIPS requirement. This will be my 6th PCS in 12 years. I’m one of the lucky few. Never stayed in the same location.

You do not use NSIPs for transfer leave. You just leave and go about your business. Be where you need to be
Can confirm, you check out of your command and receive stamped orders on your desired detach date. Leave activates automatically up to your NLT report date.

I figured. So the amount of days from when I’m checking out until the NLT is 21 days but I’m given 9 days for travel. That means I’ll only be charged 12 days right? Just making sure so I have enough days for Christmas leave

I think @Teshauna might be having the problem that their command wants hard copy orders instead of the FINSEL letter before they will approve them to detach, is that correct? If that's the case you can possibly reach out to the detailer to get those orders sooner than the 30-45 days they tell you to wait, or possibly talk to your leadership to have some of those administrative roadblocks removed.

You most likely won’t get paid until after travel. Use GTC and either get pay for mileage once checked in to OCS or Pensacola once you can file the travel claim
You can only pick advance or GTCC not both. With the long wait for the travel claim and with all the drama surrounding the GTCC, I picked advance with mileage. To each their own.

So wait, they pay you in advance? I guess I’ll have to ask about that tomorrow because I didn’t hear anything about that

I do recall a transition last year where they encouraged people to just use the card. Otherwise, if you requested the advanced travel pay, it would only be a percentage up front and you may not receive it in time. This is because they can only process the payment up to ten days before transfer.

You submit the advance 30 days before but you can't use your GTCC. If you do you are liable. Yes the advance is only a portion, the rest you'll recieve when you submit your travel claim. Some people don't like the advance because the travel claim would he "smaller" lump sum only because they got an advance. Not the smartest bunch. It's better if.you don't want to use credit (i.e. GTCC) and you don't want to eat up a lot of your own money ahead of time.
