23 May 18 Pilot/NFO Selection Board

When I saw those, I was wondering aloud if they would raise the auto-select figures. Haven't heard anything to that effect yet, so guess not.

Maybe its just a rough idea. The definitely not's as opposed to the maybe's. I suppose theres also the question of people applying to multiple communities. I'm SNA only at present, but with others they might need to decide where to put them out of their choices.

The implication from the OR was that since she didn't hear a no for me, then it must be a yes since I only had a single designator down.

My recruiter said AQ for Pilot is going up to 8/8/8 in August.

Wonder why they didnt make it effective immediately like they did for the new mins that Seniuram mentioned. Guess I should be thankful because I'd have to retake the ASTB to auto-select under those standards, would fall short with a 7 PFAR.

Not sure. I expect that NFO will rise to 7/7/7 in parallel.

My recruiter didn't give any sort of document to prove it. Part of me think they were trying to get me to commit to a Pilot AQ board because the score is going up, even though I told them I can't attend OCS until later in the fall. Cant see well enough for Pilot anyway

I don't exactly understand the mechanics of Auto-Qualification here. Is it that people with a higher score than that qualify for automatic selection, but aren't necessarily going to be chosen, or is it that people with that score have a 99% chance of getting in?

The way I understand it, it's a simpler evaluation board. Its also before the main board, so if limited slots are available you have a better shot. My recruiter wants me to do this because he thinks it would cause them to pay less attention to my legal waiver. Would want an OR on here to comment though because I'm not sure.

I think you guys are reading to much into it. It’s literally just an early board to skim the studs off right away and get them shipped and fill any open spots at OCS to maximize their accession. That way they don’t have to review the obvious candidates when the large application pool is reviewed on board day.

Ah, thanks. It confused me because I scored 8/8/8 which seems like it would be on the AQ list, but there are a couple guys who scored 9's who I don't think were on it either. Thanks for the info!

About a week left until the board convenes. Anyone know when they will let the people that qualify for auto select know whether or not they get the pro-rec?

For clarity's sake: The "auto-select" candidates had to have a specific score on a calculator available to officer recruiters based on GPA and ASTB. These candidates are considered to be highly likely to pass OCS and flight school. The early board in April had an additional requirement that you had to be willing to ship in 60 days or less. Those who are still in college or have prior commitments, etc. were not eligible no matter how many nines they had. They will probably hear back great news a week or so after the upcoming May board

That calms my nerves somewhat, seeing as I graduate from college in 6 days. I’m looking forward to whatever news I get; hopefully it’s good!

I'm going to take a guess that all the people who were auto selected have already been informed. Might be wrong, but with only a week left I'm assuming the rest of us are hearing back on the board date or after.

I myself am an 80 which I guess considers me an auto select but I still didn't hear back from anyone. And shouldnt you be an auto select also? considering your scores

"Auto-select" takes effect the day of the board, as per what I've read on here somewhere and from my OR.

Have any waivers? I'm not auto selected due to a medical waiver in my kit.
