24 AUG 15 SWO OCS BOARD

Making Recruiting Great Again
I just got off the phone with my recruiter, and she said the "send by" date is this Friday, 07/24/15. However, treat this as unconfirmed (kinda have a lack of trust in my recruiter) until someone else (Rufio) can verify. Regardless, try to hurry and finish those packages - better to be in than to be sorry.

My first post on this thread confirms the 7/24 date.

So I saw my recruiter last week, and even before that I had asked him to confirm this SWO date. He did not confirm any date and said he was still unable to upload my packet to the system, along with many other recruits from his office. Then again, he just passed on my packet to the Office processor at my recruiting station in MD. Is there something that he is hiding from me or are there some recruiters that are just not on the same page as others? This doesn't really make any sense to me. I'm tired of waiting. He said he is expecting a board in August/September.

@RUFiO181 and @NavyOffRec both confirmed the 24 August date. My recruiter also confirmed that date, and he has been very good about giving me accurate information, including not confirming rumored boards the last few months. I know a few others on this thread have said their recruiters have confirmed the 24 August date as well. So far it's looking like 24 August will be the date, but again, you never know for sure.

I am just very confused. The fact that he has reviewed my packet and is only now sending it to his processor is somewhat questionable. Whether or not he knows the board dates, he says the only thing holding back is the submission system or whatever it is. I feel like I am being misled now and I don't like that. My packet has been "complete" since the end of May.

NRC sent an email out to recruiters that 24 August is the SWO board, but I guess that's none of my business.

My recruiter was pitching that the next 'likely' board date would be October long after Rufio posted August 24th. When I pinged him about it he apparently was able to dig up an email that did say 24th.

Frankly I don't know how much communication they get, whether things simply slip past them amid a deluge of paper, but I understand your frustration. We're closing in rapidly on the two year mark for me since I first started chasing this. I've gone through three recruiters and had a dozen hiccups along the way. All I can recommend is using the resources here, and being on top of things. If I'd been paying more attention to what was posted here, doing my due dilligance and trusting less in what a recruiter a month into the job was telling me, I might have already shipped.

Ride your recruiter as best you can without stepping over the line into disrespect. Be the guy with an email waiting in his inbox in the morning. Be willing to call him. Make it impossible to ignore you, and make your enthusiasm clear if it isn't already. Be positive and upbeat. Don't make it an accusation. You have a good GPA and a reasonable OAR judging by the crowd here. Unless you have something else held against you that you aren't disclosing here (lots of wavers, background, etc) I don't see why a recruiter would be unwilling to submit you. I know in my case many of my struggles came less from recruiter malfeasance, and more from the fact that I ended up at the end with a guy new on the job.

On a less serious note (for everyone else), who knew every day in July had like 120 hours to it? This has felt like the longest month of all time.

I dunno @Aluroon I've tried to have pretty good faith in my recruiter. I've had pretty steady contact with him and haven't been afraid to call or email for more information. Every time I see a date get mentioned here I ping him to corroborate and, so far, 100% of the time he hasn't heard any of this information. I'm not sure what this packet portal, whatever it is, but when I saw him a week ago he said that communication between chain of command has been a mess. Now granted it has barely been a year since I started the whole process (roughly end of October 2014) and I am more than happy with being patient but I'm a college grad with no job prospects with this being my primary focus. The clear lack of timeliness is concerning to them. It's now become fairly concerning to me that I'm being run around. My second choice program is Supply. My recruiter sent in my interview request maybe two weeks ago and I haven't heard a thing. Nothing. I just wish I had another recruiter to talk to about this mess because I am starting to reach my breaking point.

@goldmanharry91 I understand your frustration. I don't think I've heard of a single person ever having a smooth ride through the OCS application and selection process. Some of us have been waiting for well over a year, some even longer. Be diligent in staying in contact with your recruiter and be patient. Remember that in the end this process is not about us but rather the needs of the Navy.
