I think OCS will be, "worse", than basic training, but basic training really wasn't hard to begin with. Some kind of challenge might make it fun. Like Marine DI's lol. I think the biggest challenge personally will be the amount of running I've heard about.

Marine DIs are fun. We’ll most likely do a lot of IT (incentive training) which is a HIIT workout in the sand or on the quarterdeck. From my experience, just have fun. If you can’t scream anymore, scream again. If you love cadences, you’ll have fun with running to cadences. You may hear “go chase the f***king sun right now!” to bring your moral up. “Aye-Aye Sir” will be second nature to you. If you want a challenge, laugh at them ?

One guy with a 4 AQR from May had a waiver for the AQR apparently... lol Still got picked up. Amazing.
Maybe the guy had a stellar letter of motivation or something else that was outstanding? In any scenario he is one lucky fella.

Gives me hope that there really is a good meritocratic system for selection in the Navy. I rate myself as above-average on testing but always irked me how much emphasis civilian interviews put in for your ability to estimate how many marbles fit into a swimming pool in 20 seconds.

Did anyone else do an interview? I never did.

Nope, my recruiter told me that interviews aren't really necessary unless you've got a very "borderline" packet and even then they may not make a huge difference. I took that with a grain of salt as I reckon it an admin headache to arrange 3 interviews with AD pilots. Even if they only affect 2% of my packet chances why wouldn't I take it? Not like I'm signing up for a 10-year life changing commitment and anxiously waiting on every crumble of AW gossip each day right?

I remember when I was signing my packet, I saw a letter or rec from my OR, so maybe that has a sway?

The OR needs to fill out a section in the ASPR detailing your suitability as a candidate, was that the rec you saw?
I remember glancing over it during fingerprints and all I remember seeing was my OR's name and that he would be happy to have me in his "wardrobe." Whatever that means ?
