More motivation... I used to not care for helicopters until I became a crew chief on them. CSAR is awesome and would love to have the opportunity to do something similar in the Navy flying their R/S models. I prefer fixed wing but helicopters do some awesome stuff!
Agreed! I work as a crew chief on Coast Guard 60’s and have had a blast working SAR cases. The crew environment of rotary wing can be truly amazing.

I was previously a B-52 and F-22 Crew Chief and the work atmosphere/mission just doesn’t compare to combat rescue. It’s a small community and everyone is respected. I’ve enjoyed every bit of it.— Coast guard sounds sick honestly. Heard they only take prior service pilots. Don’t know if that’s true though.

The mission is great! I’ve seen some crazy things on the job. You can get picked up for Pilot but you don’t get a “guaranteed” spot until you compete for their pilot boards post OCS. That’s one of the reasons I’m trying to lateral to USN.

I mean I’m old, and I have an age waiver and I am a dad, but I’m not THAT old!

Hey just wondering is it difficult to get an age waiver? I'm 31, turning 32 in June...my recruiter is recommending me to do supply or swo, but not as cooperative whenever I ask about aviation positions. He did say I needed to commission before my 32nd birthday for aviation and I asked him if age waiver was possible for aviation. He's supposed to check on this. I figured I'd ask you here. I am non prior

That's a recruiter question but I talked to my OR this week and he said they have been instructed to not to do any waivers right now. Could be a local NRD thing, don't know for sure.
