My God, I've stumbled onto the old men's love-in, plaid golf pants hastily strewn about the floor, a faint perfume of BenGay wafting through the air, economy-size bottle of Viagra on the nightstand....the horror...the horror...

I dunno, sounds to me like you just described the VMMT ready room.

No, the VMMT ready room has the smell of new aircraft wafting up from the hangar. And the whirring sound of 30 field grade officers spinning in circles.

In any case, it's less gay than shitter guys talking about the "Big Iron"--THAT'S overcompensation in action!

No they smelled new in 1987 when they first told TBS Lts that they would fly them.

30 Field Grade Os spinning in circles-right out of Dante's inferno

And so what is wrong with plaid golf slacks? (NB: They are called slacks, not "pants")

Anyway, if you put 'em away in the closet long enough, they surely will come back into style someday. And if you are lucky to live long enough – don't we all want to "live long enough?" - they may go out of style, and then again come back into style, for a couple of iterations. That can be awesome.

But you had better get the very max-stretchable kind, and with extra fabric - because they never fit again after that first fashion cycle. (My wife has wanted to give away my 50+ lbs. lighter, original Ensign leather flight jacket for years, to my relatively 'skinny' son. But I know with a little more workout and some extra miles, I can still fit into it. Anyway, what does she know?)

As far as Viagra goes - I only keep it in my survival pack, not in the medicine cabinet. Like my survival pack's other end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it contents, I don't need it now, and hopefully never will. But if worse comes to worse, the balloon goes up, or anarchy takes over, it's nice to know I have adequately planned, and I'm fully prepared. But still, Viagra remains only on my "nice to have" rather than my "need to have" survival list.

(And now that you mention it, maybe I should add some plaid golf slacks to that survival pack. You think? "Need to have" or "nice to have?")

Either one of two things is going down here :

1. You-all are trying to set me up .... i.e., get me to run out from under cover, all teary-eyed and weepy, saying things like ... "gee, you guys are great, too" .... or "wow, I am so grateful for the opportunity to share .... (?)". Then ..... when I come out from said cover and expose my trembling, querulous inner self for all to see ... you will body-slam me to the dirt and cyber-electronically "use me" in the most horrific way(s) imaginable. Ever see the movie ... "Deliverance"???

(OR)

2. Catmando is a very experienced, astute, wise gentleman and an incredible judge of character, breeding, good looks and .... je ne sais quoi ..... he is just truly a beautiful person.

I will go with the latter .....

..... Just my $20 worth .....

Okay, who let him into the social security check?

*Dueling Banjos*

He could spend that $20 on a bus trip to Atlantic City, and he'll get $20 in chips when he gets there.

(Provided his bus doesn't overturn on the Garden State Parkway enroute.)
