Hey, I recently got my B.S. Degree in Industrial Engineering and want to get a slot for OCS. I just took the ASTB last week and got a score: 4/5/5/47. Honestly I feel I could do a lot better since I only studied for few hours. And of those few hours, most of it was math and physics and a little bit on reading and nothing on naval/aviation history, etc. Yes, that was a big mistake of mine, I know. And I ran out of time with the first math section with like 4 blank answers. Do you guys think I have a decent shot at getting a spot? I'm applying for a pilot, supply corps, and intel slot. thanks.

Pretty sure those are near, if not the minimums. Not to say it'll be impossible depending on the rest of your package, but a lot of people will have better scores. Spend some time with the Arco study guide and you should see some better scores.

so should I retake it already? I've spoken to my OR and he told me that it was a decent score so I should keep it and apply, if I don't get picked up, then retake the ASTB, just wanted more inputs from others, anyway thanks man.

Unless you're on some sort of time deadline (as in getting too old to do it, for example) , then just do this. If it meets or exceeds the minimums then it might work. Dont rush into taking the test again. Usually people dont do much better taking test the second time around, only slightly.

Anything short of acing the ASTB, everyone freaks out about their score. Take it easy and work on the rest of the application process. Pick up an ASTB book and study in the mean time if you want so that way you can smash it in a few months should you decide to retake it

I was told by my OSO that It was looked at on a pass/fail basis, this was a couple years ago however. I would submit your package with your current score if it is passing, and If you don't get selected because of your score check out this website http://www.chicagomarineofficer.com/links.htm it has several study guides for the ASTB that helped me out.

Good Luck

A few questions to allow us to help you.
1. Navy or Marine Corps?
2. Degree & GPA

My baseline advice is to seriously study and re-take the ASTB. You can take it 31 days after the first test. The Navy OCS slots are limited and VERY competitive. Take the test seriously and do your best if the military is what you want to do. Act like you only have one shot at it.

For the Marine Corps it is treated as Pass/Fail...not so in the Navy. If two candidates are equal in all other areas, then the ASTB score may be the deciding factor.

BTW, the site listed above is pretty weak wrt ASTB, but it does have AIRWARRIORS listed. Most of the links are bad or DEAD. You'd have better luck at www.marinegouge.com.
