Age issue

NavyOffRec,
I had a question about the age issue, I was pro rec'd Y for SNA back in December and still waiting on the FS letter. I'm prior service and am 28 years old now and turn 29 in May and I was granted the age waiver. I reminded my OR that I'm getting close to the cutoff and he said that I should be fine because I was pro rec'd Y before my age cutoff. I read your info that being commissioned by is the real factor. So am I screwed at this point or is there some other kind of extension?

yeah, you could be screwed, spenz had a guy that I believe due to being rolled hit his max age while still in OCS and lost SNA, talk to RUFi0181 and Spenz to see if they have heard anything else.

He didn't get rolled. He graduated on time just bad luck. I know for me I had a pretty "fast" process. A few were faster but in general it took me 3-4 weeks to hear I was Pro-Y and then a month to get my FS which had me going a month later. So I went to OCS 2 1/2 months after my Pro-Y.

Hi everyone, first post here. I consider myself somewhat of an expert on the non-prior age waiver situation. As my profile states, I had everything done and ready to submit to board but aged-out. I could have done a few things different if I would have known, but my application process overall was at warp speed and went well. Knowing the rules say commissioned by 27, my first hand experience with people who matter, was if you can get into a class before you turn 27, (which, I couldn’t do) you have a shot. Again, this was MY experience but worth a shot if done respectfully and the right way. When people say, "so and so got a waiver as a non-prior" (which doesn't exist), I believe this is the exact "grey" area they are referring to.
