I have a fresh haircut, so naturally I was thanked for my service at a local restaurant during lunch. First time I rogered up to being a veteran, which was kinda weird... I'm two weeks out from my official retirement date - close enough. I will say that a surprising number of people here in eastern WA are Growler-aware from all the low level activity, which is fun, and I've driven right by the Fly Navy House a number of times thus far. :)

Nice to know it is still there, my last flight was a LL that went over the house and I got a great pic of it.

I just went through a big rigamorale here at Big State University where I didn't have an I-9 form and a completed eVerify

When I was hired right out of the Navy, I had to go do the e-Verify thing. I was told that my SSN wasn't valid. This was an interesting piece of information to find out given I had been paid and had SS taken out for the previous 20+ years. This then forced me to have to go to the actual SS office. Yeah, that's about what you would expect.

After going up to the first window I was told to go to the next office down the hall, which was much friendlier. Turns out HR mis-entered my SSN when they did my paperwork and after a quick phone call to HR, the lady at the SS office was super-helpful and I was out of there in 30 minutes. I was truly expecting I was going to be stuck there all day, drowning in the bureaucracy.
