For those of you who may be living under a rock in Corpus Christi, here is another head's up. DO NOT DRINK THE WATER IN CC.

There is currently a boil water alert on all of the CC water supply for fecal coliform and e.coli postitve results in some test samples. City release follows:

Boil Water Notification - August 14, 2007 (1:30PM)
Due to conditions which have occurred recently in the water system, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has required the system to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption.
To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to consumption. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.
If you have questions regarding this matter, you may contact (361) 826-1879. When it is no longer necessary to boil the water the City of Corpus Christi will notify you.
Citizens can receive on-going information about the water boil advisory by calling 826-INFO or 826-CITY during normal business hours.
Acute MCL Coliform Notification
The City of Corpus Christi water system collected five water samples during the month of August 2007 that contained coliform bacteria. Of these, four samples contained fecal coliform/E. coli bacteria. This water system is required to submit a minimum of 150 water samples each month for bacteriological analysis. Additional samples are required to be collected when routine monthly samples indicate the presence of coliform bacteria.Fecal coliforms and E. coli are bacteria whose presence indicates that the water may be contaminated with human or animal feces. Microbes in feces can cause short-term effects, such as diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches or other symptoms. They may pose a special health risk for infants, young children, some of the elderly, and people with severely compromised immune systems.

If you have questions regarding this matter, you may contact (361) 826-1879.

This is the second time they have been on a boil water advisory in a month..

Corpus is like a 3rd world nation, but without cheap hookers or a good exchange rate.

I caught "something nasty" and the flight doc thinks it may be the water.

And now we have a Tropical Storm 36 hours out as well...

Tropical Storm + Trailer Livin' = Bad Weekend for MB? Please tell me that Scoober and Mrs. Scoober are willing to put you up...

And for those headed to the Sandbox - sounds like Corpus is good training. Too much fecal coliform there as well.

Advantage of house with wheels.

I can pack up the inside for travel, unplug, hookup, and be on the road in under 30 minutes.

Do filtering devices work on water that's suggested to be boiled?
(ie Brita, Pur, etc..)

I wouldn't think so, but curious nonetheless..

In any case, AB's canned water will always be there for you. :tongue2_1

If crazy Texan people would start pooping in their toilets instead of outside, this wouldn't be a problem.

Good God, no. Do not ever try that. Britas and the like are just a charcoal filter. The boiling requirement is to kill living organisms small enough to pass through any physical filtration. When they say boil it, don't try to go around the process.
