I applied for AVP too last cycle but didn’t get picked up. It was really hard as my immediate chain of command (LPO, Chief and DIVO) were all for it but my AMO, MO and any other O-4+ in my command just thought I was chasing a commission rather than actually interested in the program cause I’m a “maintainer that has never flew drones” (despite being a MQ-8C 120 CDI lol and spent a whole deployment with UAV)I have two LOR’s, one E-9 (MMCPO) and one O-4 (MO).
Three appraisals, 2 O4s (1310,1320, since I’m applying for AVP as well) and 1 O2 1520.
Last 3 Evals, EP, MP, MP with all OCS rec. Sailor Of The Year, four NAMs,
That makes no sense 🙄 I hate crappy COC’sI applied for AVP too last cycle but didn’t get picked up. Probably pretty considerably. I would just put in you personal statement how your experience plus your degree will make you a good AMDO.Anyone know how heavy the board counts degree? I have a 3.7 GPA in History and I need an education waiver. Not trying to switch degrees with a semester to go for a designation I’m not 100% on.
It does have an effect mainly because of the waiver The boards limit how many people with waivers they will select.Anyone know how heavy the board counts degree? He will get to it when he gets to it, he’s pretty good about updating you on the status of your application. He could 100 other applications to process before yours. I know it took like 2 weeks before I got my email response.Does anyone know how long does it take for Mr. Celestin to respond to your application email? I sent my application email on 30 NOV and haven’t heard back yet.
All good thanks I mean my priority is AMDO, that’s what I prefer overall.ah man sorry about supply, fingers crossed for AMDO
You should use LinkedIn to find some O5 maybe O6 appraisals. You can add them to your package before the board convenes. I didn’t know that till I talked to Mr. Celestin.I have two LOR’s, one E-9 (MMCPO) and one O-4 (MO).

While, I agree, I’ve also had minimal luck with my direct chain of command. I’ve had more luck with an O6 recommended to me by a civilian and a random O4 that took his kids to my wife’s office to be seen. He’s given me multiple referralsI would strongly discourage going direct to senior officers unless you actually know them. Use your chain of command and/or Wardroom to help find senior officers and to make the handshake intro.
