When did I say posting on message boards was lame? I'm pretty sure I said it was lame to sit around and make fun of some candidate going through OCS when you aren't aware of the entire situation.

There's a picture of a kid bouncing around the OCS O'course in a pair of shades and you can't find the humor in that?
I'll tell you what's lame- how about interjecting your self-righteousness into a humour thread. Fine slick, what do you deem worthy of conversation? For someone who finds this thread to be lame you sure do spend a whole lot of time posting on it.

So much for the "Bias for Action" and "70% Solution" they preach at TBS... ;)

He wouldn't know what they preach at TBS... he's a just a fighting aggie cadet... lol.

Perhaps if all adhered to the "Brute's" admonition, discussions on whether or not there should
be shades, of any stripe, on the O' Course, would be moot ??
When we ran the UDT (SEALs not yet invented) O'Course at Coronado, sans shades by the way,
boots, fatigues, sprains, and one broken bone were the order of the day. I know, I know --
We walked 20 miles through the "snow" etc., etc. ...and all that ... :icon_wink
A few years later, I understand "they" broadcast Lynn Anderson's song
"I NEVER PROMISED YOU A ROSE GARDEN" over the loudspeakers to enhance the experience.

Prospective Candidate for OCS
I bet you that the candidate had PRK before OCS, my PRK surgeon suggests that when i ever i will be in bright light (for about a year after my surgery) to wear somesort of sunglasses protection because PRK is such a long full 100% healing process. I may end up being one of those "wtf" candidates because i will most likely have to wear some too.

-hope that helps

I had PRK done about 6 months ago and I can tell you that MY eyes are much more sensitive to light after the surgery. This may be because i don't have my eyeglasses on anymore which may have blocked out some of the light. I now just wear sunglasses all the time.

You couldn't pay me enough to be the candidate running around Brown Field with sunglasses on. Every staff member you passed would take a bite, every time they saw you.

He'll dazzle you with terms like "Code Red."
Since I posted this in the first place, here's the whole story on the picture for anyone who's still paying attention and is genuinely curious.

That is a former classmate of mine in the picture, I just wasn't sure when I saw it at first. The sunglasses aren't necessary because of PRK (he's a ground contract). They're photosensitive lenses that he made the rookie mistake of bringing to OCS, and is now required to wear continually until BCGs arrive. Despite getting the expected extra attention for the glasses, SNC still seems to be pretty motivated.

OCS is good for you in this respect- it gives you a nice chance to make a lot of mistakes and learn from them. And then never, ever make them again.
