Yeah, but those help for the upper body, haha. What portion of the chip trail do you run? Is it near the Navy Lodge?

No, try the loop one right next to the perfectly good track across from the API building/behind the bowling alley. Its the one that looks like its been abandoned and has more sand than mulch on it.

PFT counts for about 0.00000000001% of your final grade. With that in mind, "My suggestion to you.... Start drinking heavily." :)

For what it's worth, not every class takes their PFT on the chip trail. When I went through API last July, we ran the actual PFT on the track, and then did a few regular PT sessions running on the chip trail.

It's the track just as Pennie State boy said... watch out for the back-half... we have had too many people injure themselves where the track turns to straight sand. I know... I rolled my ankle on day one of API and got pushed back a class while the Doc's made me let it heal.

Why it's not run on the adjacent rubberized track-oval... well, welcome to the Navy.

The reason is because it didn't used to be sand, but a chip trail. Then they rearranged the trail (while building the rubber track) and it seemed to gain sand/lose chips. It's "great" to hear it's even worse now. I understand it's a sort of tradition/indoc thing, but if it's a PRT (or whatever it's called now), then conduct it like a PRT. If it's a "prove you can run on crappy surfaces," then say so. Kind of always irritated me.

WELL SAID!!! Gator, I hope you make Admiral so maybe someone can remove that god forsakened chip trail. I HATED that damn trail.

Hardly. I just like to keep things in perspective for the newer guys. Believe me, I'm not one of the mindless followers...even if the board says otherwise this October.

Where exactly is this wood chip course? I drove all around the base and couldn't find it.

There are far better things to do with your time in PCOLA than cruise for chip trails. Go drink a beer or something. If memory serves me correctly it's by the track behind the gym/pool.

The chip trail is a piece of cake don't sweat it. Hit the beach, have fun, read the pubs if your worried about something. The trail only added 30 seconds to my 1.5 mile time.
