Is the toe touch still part of the Navy PRT, or at least the one run at API?

EDIT: And if so, does it go like this:

OUTSTANDING:
HIGH: Can dislocate shoulder, get out of handcuffs, and maintain contact with toes.
MEDIUM: Touches elbows to toes.
LOW: Touches Fingertips to toes.

Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) is composed of two elements (BCA & PRT).
- If you fail either one your fail the PFA
1: Body Comp Assessment (BCA): Hight/Weight/Body Fat
2: Physical Readiness Test (PRT) comprised of three elements:
- Sit-Reach
- Curl Ups & Push Ups
- Run/Swim

I don't know if this is the same as in the fleet, but in my NROTC command failing the sit and reach doesn't constitute a failure of the physical portion of the test. I don't know if this is doctrine from the books or if it's just something that's gotten confused at our level.

That is correct, but for what it's worth, in my ten years in the Navy, I haven't seen anyone fail the sit-reach. I'm sure it's happened, but I haven't seen it.

Believe it or not, we have a couple guys/gals not make it each semester. Oddly enough it's typically someone who generally aces the rest of the PRT.

You must not have been in the right place. I've seen lots of NROTC Freshmen fail the PFA. We had one guy that failed all four categories of the PRT. :yuck_125: He ended up dropping the program.

On my ship we had a handful of guys fail both the sit-and-reach and the run. These guys were all self-proclaimed studs who had just spent the entire cruise smoking and lifting weights but were in the 3-mile-a-year club.
