More Bombers for the Navy Decade?
Rep. Randy Forbes (R-Va.), chairman of the House Armed Services Committee's seapower and projection forces panel, said the Air Force's plan to buy 80-100 bombers is inadequate. Speaking with defense reporters in Washington, D.C., Tuesday, Forbes said he doesn't have a specific number in mind, but he thinks it's possible the bomber budget won't be enough to get the numbers USAF needs. The Air Force has been "the good child ... most of (its program) goes along pretty smooth" and the service has done "a pretty good job with the overall budgets they have had," Forbes said, but he's worried about USAF modernization and preserving air dominance. In another plug for aircraft carriers, Navy fighters, and jammers, he said, "It's not just where the bombers will go, but can we give them the amount of protection and overall air dominance that we think those bombers need?" That said, Forbes argued the next decade—or two or three—"is going to be a decade of seapower." He said it no longer makes "military sense" to divide the defense budget up into thirds (one for each service), and the Navy should get a bigger share. "Every major country in the Pacific is building their Navy up," he said, adding, "We're the only one that's reducing." However, he thinks the defense debate in Congress is trending toward bigger budgets, and more bombers may be in the cards.

All - about age waivers. My comment related to both - but in their own way. The Program Authorization for Pilot and NFO does provide for prior-service applicants regarding age limits. Per the PA: "Applicants must be at least 19 yrs old and not have passed their 27th birthday upon commissioning. For applicants with prior active duty military service, waivers may be granted on a month-for-month basis up to 24 months for active duty served prior to their 27th birthday for (Pilot) applicants and up to 48 months for active duty served prior to their 27th b-day for (NFO) applicants." However, the overall approval rate of age waivers remains essentially ZERO for both prior-service and non-prior-service applicants for the reasons that I stated in my previous post, although prior-service applicants might be allowed some additional time per the eligibility rule writting within the PA as quoted above.
I am Active Duty, and submitted my package mid march. I am 27, with an age waiver attached. Last time I checked, three weeks ago my package was confirmed to be at the PM. I have not heard anything about my package being denied as of yet.
Based on OPO's posts above, it seems like someone in my position would be denied before even making it to the board. Is it safe to assume that no news at this point is good news?

Yep pretty much. Short of having a Google hangout... Hmm maybe not a bad idea at some point. But really just waiting now. I gave up bugging my OR and processor because at this point nothing could be done if my kit wasn't ready. I'm still "At PM" status as of Tuesday morning, and my processor is confident I'll make this board. So just running and work to pass the time.
Might be worth mentioning I earned my first ever sub-30min 5K today. But that is about I have to report.

that's a good accomplishment. My first ever 5k was 34min. So your doing good. That 25 min mark is a good goal now.
