I am about to sign a lease at Sweetwater apts in Pensacola. I am at TBS and have never seen them. I only know what they look like on the internet. They are located on Gloria circle near hwy 90 and seem to split the distance between NAS pens and wf. Any input about this place would be much appreciated. Thanks.

My buddy lived there for a year during API (at NAS Pensacola) and Primary ( at Whiting). I stayed with him for about 5 weeks while waiting for my apartment (different place) so I have a pretty good handle on the place. Overall it's pretty nice. A good mix of military and civilians (mostly older). The gym such as it is, is small with two treadmills, an elliptical machine and a multi-station weight machine. Nice pool, good carwash setup. Maintainance was pretty good. As is the norm in P-cola, the construction is not that great but you won't find many better. As for the apartment itself, typical small galley-style kitchen, washer-dryer hook-up will fit a normal set of machines, although they have a small (but nice) laundry room. The living room is small, there's no way around it. The porch is screened in a nd small, but big enough. I was in a 2/2 and the bedrooms were pretty big with good sized closets. The master room has a really big closet inside the bathroom which attached to the bedroom itself. The other bathroom is a common bathroom. I stayed on the floor in the dining room which was also small but adequate.

Also, it is almost half-way between NAS P-cola and Whiting so if you're a pilot it's the perfect location. Hope this helps.

Thanks, that is awesome info. I feel a lot better about signing the lease without eyes on.

Sweetwater, Governor's Gate, and Fairfield Lakes are all pretty equivalent - and each (as far as how the complex looks, amenities, etc) come off as 'top of the line' for what you will find in this city.

You shouldn't have anything to worry about.

I wouldn't recommend Marcus Pointe to anyone looking. My fiance is having to move after being 2.5 months into his lease and despite the military clause, they're still trying to tack on a $350 "moving out before 6 months" fee.

Maybe he should talk to a Jag... I know people who did when they had problems breaking their lease and those problems went away when the Jag called the place and outlined the number of ways they weren't following the law.

Yeah, he's going to Jag this week. I hope they can set things straight... I've heard good things.

We tried to visit Marcus Pointe this past weekend, but the lady just handed us a brochure and that was about it! I got more info about the complex from the website. We also viewed Sweetwater but for the price and space Kings Mill was the better choice. Sweetwater does have a nice, HUGE closet in the living room area. The staff seemed friendly!

You should have called me! We would have gladly let you come tour our 1 bedroom at Marcus Pointe. But we would have also warned you about the management. They're BAD. Colleen (Shortncurly) and I used to blame the bad management on the fact that the complex is so new... but... turns out it's not actually due to the newness.

I had thought about it! But then after they were so rude to us, I think we lost our desire! lol I thought, if they are like this now, how will they be when we really need something. Now hearing what y'all are dealing, it's no wonder. It's not the newness. It's the bad management. :)

Yeah, they're bad. Ben went to base legal today with a copy of his lease in hand and base legal told him that the complex is out of line by trying to charge us extra fees for moving out before 6 months. JAG is going to call the complex. The manager here told us "Well, it doesn't matter if it goes against the military clause, it's our company policy to charge penalties for people who leave their lease before living here at least 6 months." We'll see if she changes her tune after JAG talks to her.

That's just crazy. I'm sure they will be changining their tune here soon! Sounds like their corporate office needs a little call. ;)

Well! Why on earth would you assume that state law would have any effect on company policy?! Preposterous!!

I had a "run in" with Jasmine Creek Apartments in P'cola ... which is amazing because I never even lived there. Calling their owning / corporate office solved the problem pretty quickly ... well - that and threatening them with the BBB and the FL Department of Consumer Services for fraud :icon_mi_1

Yeah, Marcus Pointe sucks beyond the telling of it! I actually feel really guilty telling Crysmc (Crystal) about it in the first place! Not only is the management terrible, the buildings were so shoddily built you'd think the contractors were blind. I don't think there's a level surface in the whole place.

Still, the apartments themselves are the biggest ones we've seen in P'cola, but I don't know if that makes up for the management morons.
