Well, it turns out that JAG called the complex and it actually IS legal for them to charge us those $350 in fees. So DON'T MOVE TO MARCUS POINTE APARTMENTS!

OUCH! Sorry to hear that, Crystal. Why are they allowed to do that? Are the rest of the complexes in P'cola like that, I wonder?

No, none of my other friends have had problems with that. Marcus Pointe calls it a "redecorating fee" and it's something their corporate office implemented in our lease. When Ben moved in, he specifically asked (I was there too) if we would be hit with ANY fees when moving out due to military orders and the woman said no. When confronted, she was like "Oh, I said no b/c I didn't realize that you'd be leaving before 6 months." Can you believe that? NEITHER DID WE!

We're going in sometime today to tell the front office that we're leaving in 5 or 6 weeks... let's see if they pull that crap with us!

Very crazy! It's not like you are moving because you want to. You'd think that they'd understand, but apparently not.

Colleen - you'll have to let us know what they say!

Well, they say they're not going to charge us any sort of redecorating fees, but if we can't give them 30 days notice (or have to stay past our notice) we'll have to pay the difference.

Of course, that's just what they say they'll do; I wouldn't put it past them to change their minds, the duplicitous bastards.

Ask for that in writing!
