Hello,
I am writing my ASTB next Monday in Boston. I have been a rampant reader of the forums, and have studied hard in the past month, using much of the material posted on the website. I bought and studied these books, according the recommendation of people on here:
FAA Pilot's Handbook
Arco Master The Officer Candidate Tests
Arco Master the Military Flight Aptitude Tests
Barron's Military Flight Aptitude Tests
I also used atrickpay's guide, and multiple other sources. I have a few questions, if anyone can answer.
Mechanical Comprehension
- I am having trouble with the cam/set screw/contact point questions. Is there any more material, other than what I have listed that might help me with this and other mechanical comprehension? I find I am weak in some of the physics. I have looked at the "Marine Aviation Guidebook Supplement" but it is not very in-depth.
Aviation/Nautical:
- Do I need to know the colour of the clothing of people on ships (according to their roles)?
- I do not have very much information on the history of aviation as far as the US Navy goes. Do you know of any other material on this?
These are regarding the actual test:
- Can I bring a digital watch with a timer to the testing centre?
- Do I bring my own pencil/eraser?
- Will there be a choice between a paper version of the test and a digital version of the test? I have only practiced on paper, and think it might be difficult to transition.
- Is it cold or warm in the testing area...in the middle of summer?
Alright, I'll stop there! Thanks
