ASTB - Prep/Study Guide feedback

Marathon, I would recommend getting the paperback version. The practice tests included are actually really useful for simulating the pressures of completing the test in a certain amount of time.

In addition, I would recommend to everyone getting your hands on a copy of the 3 Jeppessen Private Pilot DVDs (Torrent...) I ran into several questions that were almost verbatim from the discs.

Does anyone know how different the Form 4 test is to Form 3? Specific to content and studying, I want to be as prepared as possible for this retake next week.

I just know that from my exerpience, form 4 was much more difficult than form 3. I scored about 8 points lower. I'm taking form 5 in a few weeks but not before making sure I go over as much as I possibly can. Just be prepared. Don't hope for the best, make sure you're ready.

One thing I learned from my business college professor was if you don't know the answer in two seconds you don't know it. After much personal experience that couldn't be truer. Be rock solid, but allow time for those educated guesses.

I took the OAR Friday morning and received a 56. I used Atrickpay's personal study guide, the Marine gouge, Military Flight Aptitude Tests, and two practice tests, all in a .pdf. I found them through this website and will happily share them with anyone in need.

FYI: (just to give you my background) I have a BS in Electrical Engineering with a 3.6 GPA

Thanks for extending yourself. I have taken the exam twice and did not do well enough either time. I have to wait another three months to take it again. I don't normally take standardized tests well, but that's no excuse. I will be taking test 4 next time. I dont think I studied effectively. I have a 3.5 GPA so it is really disappointing that I am not doing well. Any advice?

Airwolf: so i just mainly used the ARCO book and Private Pilot Test Prep 2011: Study and Prepare for the Recreational and Private: Airplane, Helicopter, Gyroplane, Glider, Balloon, Airship, Powered ... FAA Knowledge Tests ( it is just a private pilot test prep book) the Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge: FAA-H-8083-25A is also a really good book. Just did as many practice tests as i could get my hands on. But that gouge i used above was REALLY helpful.

Does anyone have any material they would like to share? i take the test at the end of the month for the 2nd time and would like to increase my score. i used the Barron book the first time and it didnt help me much in the mechanical section. So if anyone has anything that would help me on that section as well as others I would greatly appreciate it.
