Well guess no joy on the study guide. Im taking my ASTB tomorrow at 1400... (after being up at 4 to work my shift at work). I was only given 1 week heads up about this test so Ive only gotten about 25-30 hours in. I studied the Barrons book heavily as well as the gouges given out and read a lot about aviation principles and such. Im a prior enlisted so I know most of the stuff in ANIT already. Wish me luck guys, Ill post scores when I get them. Hopefully the math is as easy as it is in the Barrons book!

Hey gents, if any of you have any good e-gouge, or published guides that are relevant to the current tests, please send em my way. Sailor in my squadron applying for STA-21/pilot asked me on the line the other day if I had any study material that I could send his way, and I'm not sure that my 6-7 year old books would still be the best things to be looking at. PM or post up, thanks in advance!

Sapper!

Excuse the BS...
Saw this somewhere else. I have the full ARCO book on digits with the air force and army tests as well if anyone would like them.

Hey Mustang, my winzip crapped out on me and its giving me an error message to unzip.. I figure. I take the test in a few hours anyway, but I appreciate sending the file. Ill try and use it if I dont do too good on this try.

I finally opened Apatrick's study guide... I was looking at the mechanical section and he seems to have a lot more knowledge than the Barrons and Arco books... Does anyone know if all that stuff is on the test??? There are equations for RPMs and crank mechanical efficiency and stuff...

Also, I didn't get a chance to take the test... The AOSO had emergency leave so I'll probably take it sometime this week.

That study guide is very good, particularly for the word problems. I wouldn't bother memorizing equations for gears because you can work most of that out without memorizing a set equation. Def spend as much time as possible with the study guide though!

I'm using Baron's guide for the ASTB. My recruiter sent me these online flash cards to help me (link: http://www.proprofs.com/flashcards/story.php?title=astb-aviation-nautical-inforfmation-test). I noticed a lot of questions on parts of a boat and weather conditions. I'm guessing the FAA aviation handbook has solid weather information? What's a good resource for studying parts of a boat? I keep finding pictures of clipper ships and schooners when I just want a basic layout of a boat.

Thanks for the quick responses gents, I passed the info along. Hopefully we will produce another solid STA-21 candidate!
