I used the original test from my highschool days trying to get into the academy and just sent it in with my waiver for my OCS package 4 years later.

You're welcome son. :) Just remember, it's never too late to set up an easy payment plan to repay your Mom and I for everything we've done for you!! :icon_zbee

So it doesn't really matter when you take the test and how old the results are just as long as their not 20 years old lol.

What the Navy looks for in an Asthma waiver:

Navy and Marine Corp history of waived/denied asthma waivers and percentages. I haven't read the whole article, just browsed through it...

As far as my path went, the asthma waiver that I recieved from MEPS, or whoever, allowed me to go to OCS (This was the hard one, still easy to get). Then I had to get another one at OCS after the visit with the flight doc. This one was easy, and it was just paperwork. Once you're already in, the waivers are easy, since they already spent the money on you and you're committed.

I have lots of EPs to study so, try some searching, google is your friend. Google and Wikipedia have been established on here as the answer to everything :D

Wow I didn't know that they approved 70% or higher of the waivers taht are submitted, maybe there is hope for people with asthma to serve. Although they approved more waivers in 2003 than in 2004.

It may not bother you now but when you get older and the more you smoke you might have it worse than you did before. Are you in the military?

None
Just curious TurnandBurn, when did you go through the process?

I started the process in the fall of '98. Got my final answer in the fall of '02 (after many, many tests and appeals). Again, probably an issue of timing as much as anything.

my story, lungs

I had to get a waiver for "childhood" asthma, that was diagnosed by a specialist. But I didnt have too many documented cases. They, NOMI, had my whole life's medical history and only read like 2 and was concerned with only 1.

They used my prior physical fitness scores (slightly above average), the fact that they thought asthma was too easily thrown out there, and my borderline methacholine challenge. eventually after going to many different doctors i got the answer and support I wanted.

I finished primary, with no platform restrictions, and selected to fly the MV-22 currently in pensacola.

good luck
