Attention Prior Aircrew

In the P-3 Community a shit hot AW, is worth way more gold than a nugget NFO. Some of which dont kow their head from their ass, and when this prior AW, moves from NAV, to TC, trust me he will be way ahead of the game then most of the other NFO's in the same squadron. As for the pilot side, we are screwed.
Another example of why the counter resets is a shit hot P-3 AW who becomes an NFO in the F/A-18F.

Sometimes yes and sometimes no. Off the top of my head, I can think of at least two prior AWs turned Tacco that didn't too to well. One would get tunnel vision over such things as classifying the target (versus tracking the target) while the other would try and micromanage the SSI/SS2. One of these guys was a CWO Tacco (my first squadron 1986-89 time frame) and the other a AW LT LDO Tacco (my DH tour - 1995-96 time frame). I'm not sure if these AW to NFO programs still exist or not (they were not the same as the current flying CWO program) but I can also think of at least two other of these that were great Taccos. It depends on the person.

Want someone that doesn't know his head from his ass and who will constantly try and kill you? You just need to look at the nugget P-3 NoPs and 3Ps. They even screw up the box lunches (to say nothing of their atrocious spelling and grammar)...

Thats Why I said we were screwed when it came to the Pilot side. Asfor the LDO/CWO NFO program, its being held until they figure out this Flying CWO program.

Great points HAL. My experience has been that no matter what your past experience, rate or designator has been, your willingness to accept the fact that you're "only as good as your last flight/sim" is critical to your success. If you are determined to wallow in the success and stories of your past, you will most likely not do well (AW or not). However, if you are willing to learn (from EVERYONE) around you and learn how to fold in your past experiences, you will most likely do very well. Beware of the individual who needs to relish his past in order to validate his present. . .
