I'm not positive how Facebook works now. I think that if you join it wont throw up a post to your friends that you joined, but I'm pretty sure it shows on the side of your profile that it is one of your groups. So anybody that can see your page and information can see its one of your groups. But I'm not 100% sure. You can join the group and then check your page and delete any posts that might go up automatically. But if you're trying to hide any information from anybody, it's probably best to just not put it on Facebook.
