I didn't know it was that routine. I was thinking of Cujo, but it's been a couple of years now.

We can hover longer than that. 5 Minutes max. It depends on OAT/weight/etc.
OAT: <1 C
Weight: OEW + 1K fuel

I watched you guys "CQ" (lol) on GW. Here is my guess for that 5 min hover:
OAT: <1 C
Weight: OEW + 1K fuel
fuckers had to refuel/re-water (we thought they were jacking us) every 2nd pass. Even the Hornet guys were laughing at the lack of gas.
So I was going to make the usual True Lies reference about hovering with accompanying picture when I came across some movie trivia.

According to that, Arnold learned how to take off and land a Harrier for the climax. It also mentions that they had purchased about 50 hrs worth of flight time, so maybe its possible. That flight time probably includes the transit to and from base for three harriers so the chances that he learned to operate a Harrier seem very slim to me. Can anyone confirm or deny what I think to be wild BS?
A full scale model of a Harrier was built for all close shots of Schwarzenegger flying the plane; it was puppeteered from a crane on a nearby building which was painted out with CGI. (As the Harrier lands in the street, dust and debris stirred up by its jetblast is all done in CGI; the CGI blast swirls up a CGI piece of paper which is sucked into the Harrier's CGI air compressor fan)
If you're suggesting that Arnold actually flew and landed the Harrier in the movie, then I can assure you that that never happenned. He got some sim time and a few basic pointers from Marine Harrier pilots before the movie. That's it.
