Samsonite... I was WAY off!!
Well, looks like I better get my EPSQ finished up now with the "unknowns"... I just got pro-rec'd for SNA!!! :):):) I'm so pumped! Got the call from my recruiter who said, "Just wanted to tell you that were non-select.... for NFO. The reason for this is because you got selected for pilot!"

I know everynes says this after they get pro-rec'd / final select but thanks for the good gouge and advice. :)

Too bad on the NFO non-select Jameski. That really bites. Don't take it too hard. You can always resubmit in a few weeks. If you don't want to wait though, I guess you could accept the offer of your first choice. Hey, just me, but I wouldn't sit for being dissed by the NFO community. I'd go right back at them and get the NFO pro-rec as well. I don't know how you will sleep at night if you let this slight go unanswered.

Dang it wink, you're right!!! That's messed up!! I won't be able to sleep tonight and I'm going to mount the fight to get that NFO pro-rec as soon as I can re-apply. Thanks for the advice on that! :)

Before. The OCS application process just changed a bit... you do the security check as part of the initial application process, before your kit goes to the board for the professional reccomendation. Basically, its a requireent to pass the basic security clearance check to even be considered for OCS. Its the standard NSA background check that goes with a gov't security clearance.

You fill out the SF-86.. its amillion and a half pages long... goes into job history, drug use, police record, people you know, where you've lived, finacial history.. pretty much everything you can think of.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,
Bubba

They must have JUST changed this. I got pro-rec SNA about a month ago and sent my stuff in (including the SF-86 form) last week for final select. When did this switch over?

It did... Came down Monday morning. We griped about it for about 2 hours before we actually started doing work.

I took my ASTB the first week of January 06 and the recruiter gave me the SF86 that day. He also gave me the link for the electronic version.

Regardless of when you all need to fill the SF-86 form out, keep multiple copies of both the paper and electronic copies, just in case. Because when they lose it, or you have to update it, it's a lot easier to just pull up an old copy and submit/update that. Not to mention that the potential for the paperwork to get lost is huge these days, due to a high demand for background checks.

Put the remote down and step away from your DVD of "Enemy of the State".

NSA does not do security clearances. All clearances are handled by Office of Personnel Managment (OPM) and executed by the Defense Security Service (DSS) for DoD. If you end up with specific agency accesses or require a polygraph for access then those are done by the respective agency that controls that access.

I just thought he meant NAC, but maybe I was being too optimistic.
