BDCP Pay

I think it has to do with the fact that you are assumed to live the same place as your assignment. Like in the Navy post BDCP - if you are at Pensacola, you probably live in Pensacola. And it can't be a cost cutting measure unless the Navy picks the lowest of the two, which is not how it works. I for one will get paid more than what I would by my home address.

Nice. I lived up on 139th for a while last summer, even the shittiest apartment cost a thousand a month.

Question for former Enlisted members

I seperated the Navy as an E6 in June 2003. I'm going to be applying for BDCP in the Summer most likely. Would I get paid as an E6 or would I get bumped down to an E5 for the program?

Thanks,
GMO

Good muster guys.
I can't say for certain but I know the program clearly states that in BDCP (omitting nuke) you will be paid as a E3. E5 upon graduation, E4 if you get deans list two semesters in a row, or E4 for getting another person accepted into the program. You do the last two and you will get E5 while in school. While prior service I would think would help you get picked, I do not think you will get special payment. Just my take on it. I have read a lot about BDCP and have never seen anyone get paid more than E5, E3 without doing one of the mentioned tasks. (Again, omitting Nuke)

Well technically it's not "special pay" it's the active duty paygrade I was at when I was discharged. If they are activating me again then I should most likely be subject to normal active duty rules and in that case I'd be downgraded to E5 at the least I think. Waiting for the Officer Recruiter to call me back...

I just swore in for BDCP and my recruiter said my BAH was based on Irvine, CA where I go to school and my OR is conveniently located. My NRD is San Diego but living in Irvine gives me a nice bump in pay since it's a pretty expensive area. It's not based on San Diego.

Question: regarding E-4 promotion. Last two semesters I qualified for OCPO3 E-4 BDCP bump. My OR said he had my transcripts and would send in the paperwork for this. Does anyone know if I will get back payed to month after I earned second semester dean's list? My contract made it seem I would pick up the new pay the following month(i.e. Jan.), but my paper work most likely will not be processed till Feb. Seeing if anyone had first hand experience with this.

BDCP BAH is supposed to be based off where your school is located.

I straightened out the issue with the collegiate manager in NRD New York. Your BAH should not be based off of your UIC address. If you have a problem, talk to your OR. I got the issue fixed and will be back paid for the $1000 difference per month.

How do you go about getting a copy of your W2? My dad's going through all the FAFSA stuff right now...

Alive and kicking...sort of.
OK...old thread revival here.

I have a question about BAH in our pay. I recently got married in August, but I didn't get all of the paperwork necessary for the Navy to update my status until last month. So as of this month, my BAH jumped from $990 to $2100...my question is, is this boost going to be permanent (i.e. this is the new monthly amount) or is this the backpay from August until now for the BAH difference (which would go back to a slightly lower amount but higher than the original $990)?

Called DFAS earlier and they said it appears this will be the new normal amount, but I've heard how other members have received a higher check and then a less than normal one before it finally evens out - mine has been correct since I've sworn in, but it can happen. I just want to be sure of whether they do a backpay for the months in between an event and the paperwork, or do they only start the change once paperwork gets in and from then on? I appreciate anyone who's been married since swearing in or getting into the Navy. Thanks!
