Just for your information, I have a son that scored high on all the testing and top 2% on ASTB. Boards are closed! Marines are hiring for pilots!

Just because your son scored in the top brackets on the ASTB, does not guarantee him a slot with the Navy, Marines, or Coast Guard. Also, where did you hear that the boards were closed? By coming into this thread and stating so absolutely that the boards are closed with no sources cited, you only feed the rumor mill surrounding the recent board delays. Also, having a thread asking whether or not the boards are closed and then posting in another thread that they are closed makes you come off a bit trollish.

I would typically agree with you in a second... But lets show some respect here... He is trying to help his son as his profile indicates. He is also vet from some years ago... His information may not be 100 percent spot on as he is probably hearing from his son who is telling him what the recruiter is saying... I believe we all remember the game "telephone" (or whatever it was called) when we were kids... Things get twisted from the first message to the last...

bsigmon,

First, thanks for your service. We will be glad to help you and your son with any questions and concerns you may have during this process. We do ask that you search the forums first before asking questions as there is a bunch of information that can be found on this site and others by simply using the search function. Also, there are many members of this forum that are retired, active, or reserve officers so we ask that you use proper internet etiquette.

Second, if you post things above as Allamerican pointed out without a viable source it is rather difficult to believe because of the "scuttlebutt" you find on here from time to time. Any source you provide along with the information is great and we appreciate it but realize there will always be a little scepticism on our part because of the nature that forums can sometimes provide. We try to eliminate scuttlebutt and only provide valuable information from reliable sources that is worthy of posting but as previously stated scuttlebutt is present. In the future please provide your source and the information your source provided as we would greatly appreciate it. Thank you again and welcome aboard!

bsigmon,

I apologize if my post came off a bit assholish, that was not my intention at all. Any hostility in my comments can attributed to my overzealousness in trying to curb the rumor mill. Also, your posts across two threads set off my troll senses as I've seen quite a few guys come in and post all over the boards just looking to stir up shit. As Twobecrazy said, thank you for your service and best of luck to your son. My suggestion is that you get him to register on AirWarriors, it's an invaluable resource.

Man TBC, you might want to have a doctor look at that. Is that something that will NPQ you? Is it waiverable?

I have... It is apparently waiverable for the first two years... Then you need to see a specialist to contain future "scuttlebutt"... I don't know if it will mess with your clearance though!
