I live in Berkeley, and I don't find the people to be all that inhospitable, granted I am not in military uniform. I think the stupid people here are just a lot more vocal and motivated and that their representation on city council is a testament to their motivation, not necessarily their stupidity (i.e. they were able to be visible enough to get voted in rather than stupid people identifying with them).
I will say, however, there are a lot of people that sleep on the street.

P***ies. Even though I do not agree with their views, I could at least respect them if they stood their ground. If they had an iota of the fortitude of those they criticize (the marines) they would not back down. It was pretty apparent from the beginning the way this would play out. We've seen it before with different schools threatening ROTC programs until their precious federal funding is jeopardized.

What a bunch of fvcking slimy assholes. They should have pulled the funding from these @assholes and taught them a lesson they wouldn't forget. It always amazes me how extremist liberals/commies that come from Berkeley live in a world of their own. I wouldn't be surprised if they would go as far as harboring terrorists just to make their point. The type of people that live in that city are the type of people who would be first on the chopping block if they lived in a place like Iraq or Afghanistan. These assholes should should be thankful that they have Marines and the military to protect their way of life.
