It's a nice thought, I think, but not sure platform availability, resourcing and training will enable this concept to succeed. Thoughts?

It's essentially a surge ready force to do theater ASW on the Northcom side of the Atlantic when Russia forward deploys its subs, which it can only do for a select period of time and only with a handful of units.

We've been dealing with this problem almost exclusively with our SSNs, which don't make great wide area sensors.

This seems like just formalizing something that was already happening. Ships/DETs have been surging, going hunting, and then coming back for years now.
