CMC presents award to MCRC. You May Rate a NUC.

FENIAN

Can I go home yet?

This is old news, but it was brought to my attention last week and was certified for me yesterday. CMC awarded ALL member of MCRC the NUC for outstanding recruiting efforts during FY 05 and FY 06. Even Marines that were on PRASP or PTAD during this time are included. So if you were a Lt on PTAD with the OSO during this period, you rate. Keep in mind you need a copy of your orders or a fit rep from the command during the award period. THIS IS THE REAL DEAL.

Hmm...sounds suspiciously like a forwarded chain email I received about Bill Gates sharing his fortune. Nothing on Snopes about this one, though.

Seriously though, I know several Lts who were on PTAD with their OSO during this time and have the NUC to show for it.

I never thought the day would come where we would trust Snopes more than a MARADMIN.

Uh, that's a MARADMIN from 2007, and an awards update at that. Not exactly breaking, earth shattering news. I'd say congratulations or something, but it's a NUC for MCRC, which despite doing a difficult job, isn't exactly the tip of the spear.

Why do you have to go around busting balls? They sold an unpopular profession in a time of war. Have you ever done recruiting, alot harder than selling cars.
Not exactly the tip of the spear but then I will not make it a point to stress the obvious.

The MARADMIN is actually almost 2 years old (March), but SOOOOO many fellow Marines I know rate the NUC and did not know about it. YOu think a Recruiter or OSO is going to search you out to let you know? You think your admin section is going to let you know or remind you about a reward? In my case, NOBODY at my unit told me nor did my recruiter, even after three months after checking back into the recruiting command.

Being in command of some recruiters, I can tell you that I have had to deal with recruiters begging to be put back on the front line. Pluck a guy from demobilization and send him against his will to recruiting duty and expect to adapt to not only the stress from returning from harms way, but being a newbie at a profession when he has been considered a master of his trade after 6 years. Recruiting is hell. If my monitor hates me, I know he'll send me back to where I am.

Recruiting is hell.

Well I'm glad I caught this post. I did a PTAD right at the end of that period. I think I have a copy of old orders but if not, is it not possible to get a copy of old orders? If I do get them, take them to my admin and it gets updated on MOL?

I am sure a copy of web orders will work just fine.
Now I am not an admin guy but I hear the you can retrieve old orders through the web orders system. Try that out.

If nothing else, try contacting the recruiting station you worked at, they might be able to help you track down some supporting evidence.

This is funny, but I remember now they didn't let us start our PTAD until the start of the new fiscal year back in OCT of 06 due to funding.. so I miss out by one day. Oh well

Token stupid question of the thread:

On MOL when it shows all the awards you rate, do you have to update that when you get new ones, or does that get done automatically? This really doesnt apply to me at this point in time as I only have my Natty D...but a few of my TBS room mates were discussing this. Do you have to put in a request to have your file updated or should it just happen on its own? The reason it was brought up was because the one guy rates a ribbon, but it wasnt updated on MOL. Our conversation got "thread jacked" into could someone like your CO look up something about you and get you in trouble because it might not be updated even though you rate the award...

When it gets processed by your admin shop, they should update your MOL, but I suppose it would depend on the situation. Take for instance the NUC for MCRC: you would have to take your proof that you were part of MCRC during the specified time period to your admin shop for them to update your record Though you rate the NUC, you don't really "rate" it until it's in MOL. On the other hand, LOAs, and other awards should be forwarded by the approving authority to your admin shop to be updated. If there's a discrepancy, I would ask your admin shop about it, because what's on MOL is essentially your official record.

You can only print old web orders if you were originally issued web orders. Unfortunately, they go away somewhere around two years. So I was told after I tried to retrieve my old web orders and my MOL PTAD orders. They were long gone.

I WORK at the Recruiting Headquarters and they trashed a copy of the orders last year. Apparently they store them with the PRASP orders that BOOTS use for Recruiter's Assistance and command recruiting orders. I had to tear apart my apartment to find my orders in a folder with my Welcome Aboard package from 29 Stumps...ugh.

Thanks for the heads up. I went on PTAD on the first day of Fiscal year 05. Little chest candy never hurt. Positive rep away.
