Watching those things land and take off on FLIR out in East County, I'm always amazed when it lands in grass the grass doesn't spontaneously combust, VH-92-style.

It CAN happen, but as long as you reduce power and modulate the nacelles fore and aft some, you should never get in a bad spot with that. Brown it a little, sure, but you shouldn't start fires.
