Coast Guard DCA

Does anyone know what percentages of fix wing guys are getting picked up? Is it easier for a fix wing guy right now to get accepted? I'm not a Navy/Marine flighter dude so I'm wondering what my chances are.

I'm not sure of the exact numbers, but right now we have a lot of fixed wing DCA's since our fixed wing pilot numbers are getting boosted due to the 144 coming on line. Right now if probably the best chance a fixed wing DCA will have. I've seen all four branches come through the pipeline and only one of them was a flighter guy.

Thanks. Would you say most are getting slots right now? Or are they still turning down a few applicants?

DCA board results 18 May 09

If anyone gets word of the latest DCA board results, feel free to post. ;) Does anyone know the usual time frame until the results are released?

Tanker

I'm in the same boat as you waiting to hear. It should be about 2-4 weeks from what I've heard. Let's hope we get some "unofficial" news prior to the message traffic.

Gentleman, thank you for the great info on the DCA program. Army FW/RW rated aviator, looking to go DCA. Anyone have a point of contact for this program?

DCA board Nov 09

Anybody heard any word on the number of DCA slots that will be available this Nov? Are there going to be more than in the spring?

Any rumors, feel free to pass along...

Reviving the thread. I have heard the the USCG will waiver a USAF transfer who has more than 10 years active duty but will not waiver past 12. Also does anyone know about the an age waiver (past the 35 cutoff) for age 38 and 15 years of active duty service in the USAF?.

38 y/o - 15 yr TIS: not looking good for the DCA program. The CG wants 2.5 to 3 x 4-yr tours out of you, which equals 10 years of CG service. Waivers will most likely not be given, especially since the CG is trying to reduce the active force by 1100 service members (out of around 50,000 total, IIRC) and I don't think there has been a significantly large DCA board in the last year.

Good luck!

Just curious if you coasties have any info on how budget cuts may affect FY-11 boards. I read some rumors on aptap (i think) that the coast guard as a whole is overmanned. I would think DCA would be a good way for the coast guard to cut down on the cost of training but I would like to know what you guys think.

Guess I could of read the post before me a bit closer...still if you guys have any new info I'd appreciate it.
